The Futura Frame is our lightest, and is the foundation of our daypacks. It’s designed to support standard day loads, traditionally 40lbs or less. This frame is a seamless marriage of our universal Futura Yoke, and a single, full length .060 HDPE frame-sheet, linked through tensioning.
As in all our packs, this system combines two independent frames: one for the load, and one for shaping to the user. This configuration creates a flex pattern that enables active movement by transferring the load evenly through the hips, while maintaining agility and mobility across the torso and shoulders.
The shaping for you back comes from additional framing components that are housed in the harnessing, we call this system the Futura Yoke. The Futura Yoke is a Velcro anchored telescoping shoulder pad system that can be adjusted up or down to fit your torso length. It’s comprised of both open and closed cell foam to create a padded and structured piece to give you ideal contact over your shoulders and across your chest. Once the yoke is properly adjusted, the curve of the composite frame sheet is contoured to match the shape of your back. The yoke is available in three different sizes to offer a seamless fit.
Futura Frame packs have a variety of waistbelt systems ranging from a simple 2" webbing strap to our advanced Live Waist Belt System. The Live Wing belt system is our lightest and lowest profile load transfer system. The foam “wings” are attached to a foam stiffener in the lower section of the pack bag. By snugging the waist straps in front, you activate the Live Wing system and lock the stiffeners to your hips for a secure carry. A waist belt pad with ¾” open-cell Matrix foam comes standard on the larger Live Wing packs and can be added as an upgrade to the smaller packs for those days when you can’t afford to leave anything at home.
