Frequenty Asked Questions

We're moving to a kitted system so that we can design and build packs and frames that are optimized for integration based on the function of the product. There are some cool new things in the works. In the meantime, we may be able to accommodate pack only orders based on available inventory - contact MR Customer Service or call 1.833.548.1999

As much as we would like to be able to offer our military/LE/ firefighter customers a discount on our packs, we have government contracts in these markets that prevent us from doing so.

MYSTERY RANCH accepts returns for a refund within 60 days of the original purchase date. Items must be returned in brand new, unused condition, and shipping charges are non-refundable. Please give us a call at 1.833.548.1999, and we can get you set up with a Return Authorization (RA#).

The only repair that we can offer on Dana Design products is a replacement back foam pad on packs with the ArcFlex body panel design. We can ship the foam to you and you can easily install it yourself without having to send the pack in to be repaired. Replacement back foam pads are $15.00 plus $5.00 for shipping. We are not set up to perform custom work on individual orders and no, we cannot build a pack for you in a custom color. If your concern is in regards to sizing please give us a call at 406.548.3234.

Also, please know that modifying your MYSTERY RANCH pack may void the lifetime warranty, so please think first before you start ripping straps off and cutting holes in your pack to make it more aerodynamic for winged flight.

First, start by washing your pack with hot water in the shower. Use a mild detergent like Dawn to get minor dirt and grime out of your pack. Dry the pack out of direct sunlight. DO NOT USE HARSH CHEMICALS TO CLEAN YOUR PACK. If you need to get odors/blood out of your hunting pack, please use Atsko Sport-Wash Laundry Detergent

For full cleaning and care instructions, see here

We always recommend that you size down for the waist belt. If you fall in-between sizes on the yoke, we recommend that you size up.

If you are in need of a different size yoke or waist belt, please give us a call at 1.833.548.1999.

Why did you add a production facility in the Philippines and Vietnam?

MYSTERY RANCH added these facilities because of the increased demand for our product. We needed the additional facilities to build for customers who don't require (Berry Compliant) US production and / or don't want to pay a premium price for products built in the U.S.A. With these additional offshore facilities, we are able to focus our domestic facilities on the Berry Compliant orders.

How do I know if the pack I want is made in the US, PH, or VN?

It will be noted on the product page on our website and you are always welcome to call us and ask if you don't see the "US" or "world" icons that denote production location.

Is the quality of the packs the same?

Yes, absolutely! We carefully select the highest quality materials and ensure that all production facilities adopt our quality standards and techniques to deliver products consistent with the MYSTERY RANCH legacy. Our distributors who have received product from the US, PH, or VN are unable to tell the difference without looking at the label.

How do you ensure consistent quality?

Our factory resources use the protocol defined by our team in our production packages in order to deliver consistent quality gear. Upon introduction of new products, our product engineers visit our factory resources to work with them to develop new styles. As the product goes to production, our QA and QC teams will then visit our US, PH, and VN factories to ensure the finished goods meet our MYSTERY RANCH standards.

Love just about everything. Well worth the purchase...too much to go into detail, but the wait belt needs to be wider. Too narrow. Especially when hauling heavy loads. Second. Very frustrating when the hip pouches move all over when you unbuckle the waist belt. They constantly need adjusted when you unbuckle due to the design of how they are held in place by the webbing and only stay tight when the belt is buckled. Last. No external pockets and the pack is a little heavy. If those deer items were addressed, hands down would be the best pack out there. What MR is doing, especially here in 2018 is very promising and exciting. Thanks.
I'm always looking for better gear! Been eyeballing Mystery Ranch packs for while now. When you guys came out with the Metcalf in Sitka Subalpine camo it sealed the deal.
I've found that with this pack, taking the time to adjust the yoke properly made for an awesome fit! Living and hunting here in western Wyoming , gears got to be tough as nails! This pack is that and so much more! I'm not a big fan of lots of pockets and such so this pack is perfect! I like the adjustability of the size and how well it compresses. Makes it quite versatile. Anything from day hunts to week long trips, this one does it all!!
I've found in over 30 years of backcountry backpack hunting, you get what you pay for! This pack is the most comfortable and durable that I've ever owned! Worth every penny!!
I've owned my Metcalf for about five years now. I bought the Longbow first, and then added a Metcalf bag the next year. It's seen a lot of miles and a lot of weight. My thoughts, worth what you paid for them:

I don't mind the lack of pockets. I keep my spotter/tripod on the side with the mesh pouch, and use the cinch straps to hold it. My trekking poles go in the same spot. Never a problem with either of these items coming out.

The NICE frame is about as solid as they come. I did add the frame extenders so the load lifters work properly. I also added the Power Pulls from Oneiros Valley. Good addition.

It takes a little fiddling around with the frame initially, but once you get it dialed in mark the yoke with a sharpie. That way, when you pull your frame apart to clean it at the end of the year you can get it back to the same location easily.

Love the load shelf on the Metcalf bag. I've carried several deer on the Longbow, which does not have the load shelf. The shelf makes things easier and you don't have to fiddle with things as much.

I like the simplistic functionality of the bag. I'm not much into individual pockets and such, if you are then this probably isn't the bag for you.

The Metcalf compresses down just fine for day hunting. I've done a number of multiple day backpack hunts with this pack and wear it every day. As far as volume, I was able to fit food and gear for a 9 day bow hunt in the Rubies in Nevada. With more cold weather gear I would likely have to lash some stuff on the outside.

Durability seems to be very good thus far. No stitching has come loose, and other than some wear on the yoke it's still as good as new.

The pack is heavy, no doubt. However, I can't say I really notice the extra 2-3 pounds when I get it on my back. I do notice the extra 10 pounds on me when I cinch the belt down.

All told, I'm very happy with this purchase.
