Mid-sized assault pack for extended missions.

The KOMODO DRAGON is a slightly larger version of our 3 Day Assault for extended time in the field or chronic over-packers. The KOMODO DRAGON uses the Futura yoke to adjust to different torso lengths and accommodate the extra girth of armor. It has the BVS system to make the pack more stable over armor and the bolsters are removable to lower the pack’s profile when not wearing armor. Inside, it has a MOLLE panel for radio mounts plus detail pockets, three hydration sleeves and a Spadelock mount for attaching accessories. The waist belt stows away when not in use.

  • This Internal Frame is an HDPE (high-density polyethylene) sheet that provides rigidity and yet is flexible. The Futura Yoke easily micro adjusts to the torso length allowing the proper amount of stand-off between the back and frame.
  • The BVS – Bolstered Ventilation and Stability system– allows for a stable, secure fit over body armor and can be easily removed.
  • Featuring our classic 3-ZIP design for easy, rapid access to the interior.
  • Three rows of MOLLE on front panels
  • VELCRO® on lid for identification and patches
  • Radio inputs, outputs and antennas route easily through the three urethane coated zippered ports
  • Water bottle pockets keep hydration handy
  • Double-layered bottom for long-haul durability
  • Waist belt stows away when not in use
  • Bolsters can be easily removed
  • Built of custom spec’d 500D CORDURA® with DWR and PU coatings for maximum durability, UV, and weather protection
  • Water-repellent, IR Compliant YKK® zippers

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Komodo in AfghanI used the komodo dragon pack in Afghanistan for 6 months. Overall the ruck has held up to abuse very well. The bag is extremely dirty and beat up and is still kickin. None of the material or stitching has broken or come loose. The zippers would get sticky after all the dust, but a few sprays with an air hose and they were fine. I carried alot of demo throughout the mountains and flats and the bag was as comfortable as it could be. There isn't a whole lot of compartments inside the bag to organize everything and keep stuff separate, but there was just enough for my needs. I look forward to many more years with this bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My packsI just not long ago got the Komodo dragon to go along with my Nice 7500 I got for Afghanistan a few years ago. Its a great pack! It rides perfect and carries the load great. Both packs have made carrying a ruck much more comfortable as an infantryman. I’ve had zero issues with either and I don’t foresee ever having an issue. I really wish I had these two my first trip down range in 2003 for the beginning of Iraq. Thank you mystery ranch for such great rucks. I would encourage anyone who has to carry a pack for long periods of time to not hesitate in putting a piece of you doe in their packs. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. All the Way Mystery Ranch! Thanx Much

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works greatI’ve had mine for about a couple years. Used for hunting and hiking on our farm. Easy to attach and carry an ar15 or smaller 22 rifles with. Not the best for larger precision type rifles. Usually loaded around 50 pounds or so. No complaints on the bag. I’d like a drop down style molle attachment pouch I could hang from the bottom row to put the stock of the rifle into. With the lighter rifles I just put the stock into the water bottle pockets on the side of the bag and cinch it down. With the larger heavier rifles it’s too hard to balance the bag out by cinching the rifle too the side. They can be attached to the center of the bag but it’s difficult to get it cinched in a way it doesn’t move at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My second Komodo DragonI use this Komodo Dragon every day for work. It fits well in over head bins on the plane and cinches up tightly while carrying a full load. I’m in sales and carry everything I need in this pack without making several trips to the truck to get more product. I can carry 30+” long product in the main compartment or strapped to the two sides utilizing the water bottle pockets. Both of my rigs have 2 Large rip zip pockets (found in military accessories page) on both sides of the bag above the water bottle pocket attached to the molle webbing. This gives me grip it and rip it easy access to what I need without digging or doing the bag dump. These bags fit my personality and life style.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love everything except the lack of frame.First off I’ll start with the layout of this pack is perfect. It’s really well designed and you can fit a ton of stuff in it. It’s perfectly sized as a multi-day pack as a light infantry fire team leader. I really hate that it does not have a rigid frame. The adjustment and yoke are really great just like all mystery ranch packs, but if I had known that Mystery Ranch did away with a rigid frame I wouldn’t have bought it. My old squad leader has an older version of this pack and it has a rigid frame. I love that version of it. That was what I thought I was getting when I ordered this one. Instead the one I ordered just has a super soft flexible thing in it that only works when the pack is fully loaded to capacity. I’ve have cheap pack packs with more ridged frames. It’s ridiculous and really ruins what otherwise would be a perfect pack. I’d return it if I wasn’t getting deployed in a few weeks and need a pack of this size. All in all not real happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well Made, Opportunities for a Few ImprovementsOverall, this pack is really well made. There are a few opportunities for improvement:1. The pack straps are generally long, which can be really helpful when you want to quickly strap a jacket etc to the outside of the pack, but the pack doesn’t come with “keepers” to control the long strap ends when they are not in use. Others have complained about having to separately order Velcro web (strap) keepers from Mystery Ranch. I agree. 2. One of the tri zips on the back of the pack gets hung up on the end of an internal seam over which the zipper runs. I expect better on any (otherwise) well made (and comparatively really expensive) pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bagI've had this backpack for 4 years now and it's still as good as new. Extremely robust, I've never had any trouble with it.I use it as much in the civilian as in the military. Its capacity is sufficient, for example, for treks of a few days. You can always add modules with the MOLLE (as on the picture) to increase the capacity. Overall, I am very happy with this bag.Greetings from Switzerland

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As good as it getsAfter a minor SNAFU with my order, which was resolved post haste by customer service, my Komodo Dragon arrive…all I can say is it is as perfect as any man-made construction can be…every bar tack exactly the same (dimensionally, start-stop points, tension width) every seam straight and tight…not even one single loose thread or tag-end thread…bravo, Mystery Ranch. As to the design, innovation and imagination put into action…the internal organization shows a brilliant grasp of the obvious, as the layout provides separate compartments and pockets in a frightfully logical fashion. The exterior is well-endowed with a plethora of MOLLE/PALS attachment fields, allowing one to arrange a load-out in almost any conceivable order…the pack itself rides like a baby monkey on its momma's back…tight and close, moving with you but not slowing you down at all. Some will balk at the price…don't…short of losing this pack, you will most likely never wear it out, and thus you are, in effect, buying two or three packs at the same time…again, bravo Mystery Ranch…you have renewed my faith in the American worker...
