Over the last 40 years, the Terraplane has proven to be Dana Gleason’s most iconic and recognizable design. Its legacy can be easily identified in Dana’s products from the 70s, 80’s and 90’s as well as our most modern offerings for the military, hunters, fire crews and mountain adventurers. The classic features – long pockets, speed zip, removable lid – and top-loading design have stayed true to the original, but with significant advancements in construction techniques, technical materials and design aesthetic, the latest generation of the Terraplane pack represents both our heritage and a new vision for mountain products from Mystery Ranch.
We strive to build packs with the mission in mind, and the Terraplane is now, and always has been, the ultimate multi-day expedition pack. Our Guide Frame is engineered to provide enough flex for 40 pound loads and enough support for 80+. The top-loading design with dual draw-cord shroud allows for vertical expansion and weather resistance. Back Long Pockets are perfect for rain gear, fuel canisters, water filter, water bottles or toilet paper and trowel. The SpeedZip sleeping bag compartment will close easily over the largest loads and ice axe loops, daisy chain and dual side compression will help lock on tools and other overloads. Side zip entry gives additional access to the main compartment. The bi-valve lid has two separate compartments for better organization and its tapered design offers superior compression and load control. A built-in waist belt converts the lid into a hip pack complete with ports for hydration.
