Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pack! After putting some time and miles on this pack I've already fallen in love. The yoke and fit is very comfortable and I like the weight distribution even more so than the hotshot model. The entire pack fits in tight spaces so much better than the standard hotshot model since the yoke can either be stowed away or compressed into a much tighter package. With every compartment zipping shut, I no longer have to carry the extra pine litter around that falls into my pack after bushwacking. The angle that the shelter is carried keeps it well away from my body and provides for a super comfortable day.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great pack-small issue that could cause failure.Having used most packs on the market and been dissatisfied so far, I though I would give this a try. I have never been able to get a comfortable fit using the Hotshot MR packs, and I haven't had good luck with other brands either. This new pack has been extremely comfortable and doesn't allow me to overpack or carry more than I really need to. The overall design is very well though-out, and the storage compartments are perfect for my needs. I haven't had any issues with the fire shelter rubbing while hiking (common problem for me with most packs), and the pack is extremely easy to dial in a perfect fit. Even though this pack wasn't designed with molle attachment on the hip-band, I am still able to use a radio holster made to attached this way without the radio or antennae getting in the way of movement/hiking or using hand-tools or a saw. The currently minor issue I have found so far is that the aluminum hardware on the yoke attachment point seems to be a bit sharp and is prematurely wearing through the webbing (see attached photos). As the yoke is sewn into the pack, there is no way to replace this component if it were to fail while on the line. (There would still be 2 points of attachment for the yoke/shoulder straps via the buckles, but that would be in a worse-case failure while on a fire).I'm planning to take a high-grit sandpaper to try and round the edges on the aluminum hardware to see if this will solve the issue described.Otherwise, this pack is a great change from the bulky, overly rigid options that most crews go with these days. I can still load it down pretty heavily if needed and maintain a comfortable fit, and is perfect for loading in a helicopter basket or packing away neatly inside of a vehicle compartment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed and balanced fire line pack!I bought this several months ago and have used it for 25 hikes so far. I have fought fire in 5 different decades and best pack I have ever worn. In training for the season and didn't even weight it till recently and didn't even notice the 42 while hiking various parts of the Sierra Front. Minimally designed and well balanced! At first when I put they pack on I thought the shoulder strap was in the wrong point but after using it is at the perfect pressure area for balance. Very little loose points on the outside to catch on the brush!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Something Completely Different...If you're looking for the best of the best this pack might be for you, but everyone has their own taste and style. This pack was designed for those who fly to work - but it will also work for anyone looking for something a bit different with features never seen before. Every detail is complete, dating back to the beginning - A.L. 5939. It was an honor to work on this skunkworks project. Thank you "D'' and everyone involved, see you on the open road!Airborne! 39

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No manual includedGreat build quality, comfortable on my back, no manual to set up your straps or back support but I guess use common sense. Wish it had more color options but 5/5 would buy again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gold standard for Aerial Delivered FirefightersNice tight package, well thought out design. Easy to reconfigure for short-haul fire insertion, stowing and repacking into pack out bags and day to day helitack operations. Fits easily into rappel belly bags, can work all day with no issues. Other negative reviews knit pick some minor details. The pack is a tool and will hold up in tough terrain, don’t go down a rabbit hole second guessing your purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so goodJust got the pack love how lighter it is than HS TL. The features of being stowable for Helitac or jumpers is an advantage for engine use. I found the pictures in the description useful to figure how to stow the straps and waist belt
