A heritage design, the BOMB PACK USA is our classic mountain daypack.

With its simple top-load design, the BOMB PACK USA is our most iconic mountain daypack. Built domestically to support Made in America production, the BOMB PACK features a sewn-on lid and minimal moving parts. The result is a workhorse design that'll provide years of reliable service in both the backcountry and front county. Two composite stays create supportive, active framing to distribute the load evenly between shoulder harnessing and hip belt. Whether hiking, climbing, skiing, or traveling, this pack is the Bomb.

  • The Mountain Frame is a robust frame that supports large loads. The mainframe is comprised of two vertical composite rods backed with a full-length frame sheet. Through patented features and construction methods, the mainframe transfers the weight of the load into the wings which relay the weight and equalizes the contact around and into the belt. The waist belt cants and conforms over the hips to effectively transfer and distribute the weight and eliminate slippage down over the hips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing beats a Bomb Pack! (Now make and L/XL please!)Carried a Dana bombpack for over 20 years. Indestructible and carries huge loads with ease. Hands down the best pack ever made if you value function and durability over fad and flimsy. Very happy to see it's return and would love to give you my hard earned cash as soon as possible: L/XL please? thank you! Keep making the best packs in the world.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BomberI've taken it on at least a dozen trips now and can confidently say it's one of the most comfortable packs I've ever had, among MR and other brands. I guess the hip belt is right for me. The capacity feels bigger than the advertised 42 liters, but in any case you can easily pack this for more minimal overnights, climbing trips, or travel (however I'm not sure if "Bomb Pack" will be appreciated by TSA). The construction is absolute bomber and the design is fairly simple. Unless I get bored with it, it will last me until I die (buy once, cry once). I just like this kind of alpine-sack design with the tough cordura feel. Here are my gripes: the lid would be better floating and removable instead of sewn. There are two extra tri-glide straps on the lid that are supposed to tighten it down but seem to slip over the frame stays. The "stick it pocket"- which is awesome and I wouldn't trade it out- would also be better as removable. So it's really 4.5 out 5.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Double-UnfortunateHad a Dana Design Bomb Pack back in the early '90s, and loved it! The daisy-chain allowed for the attachment of various whatnottery. and the shove-it pocket was the perfect place to put my coat in the heat of the day. Unfortunately, someone else loved my Bomb Pack, too, and stole it a few years back. Been searching for a replacement ever since. Double-unfortunately, this ain't it. Why would you re-introduce this classic and not have it available in L/XL?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 24 Years Old and Still Going StrongI've got one from about 1994, make that a roughly 24 year old pack. Still use it regularly on climbing trips - rock and ice - still going strong. These things are near impossible for a weekender to wear out.
