Rated 5 out of 5 by Karl from One of the bestMystery Ranch got this pack right! At 5 pounds it is not light, but the overall design is so good that you will want to keep it. The vest style shoulder straps ensure comfort and the hip belt is perfect. The top pocket zips open on three sides allowing easy access to contents (why did nobody think of this 40 years ago?). The frame flexes but is vertically rigid. I am 6’6” tall and the load lifter straps are at the proper angle (thanks MR for listening to reviews!). I am a 20 year veteran mountain guide, and I am using this pack for nearly all trips… and it’s a lot better than my vintage Dana Designs Bridger! Well done Mystery Ranch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Live Hard Love Harder from This pack is EPICThe bridger is the GOAT of backpacking gear. I love the Mystery Ranch signature double sternum strap. The waist pad is wonderful with the way the pads separates for more walking movement. I love that I can access the full contents of my pack without opening from the top. I love the strap on the sleeping bag compartment that takes the strain off of the zipper. The quality of this pack is unmatched. I love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Steve NW Mountaineering from Game ChangerComfort: The yoke and frame system is unbelievably comfortable and cool! It's a game changer! At first, I wasn't sure about the lower chest strap, but after awhile, I found it really stabilized the pack on my back. I was hiking on a warm (not hot) day, and I stayed cool, even in the most strenuous parts of the hike. The water bottle pockets on the shoulder straps are good for bear spray or smaller type water bottles. The Bridger frame is amazing! The Waistbelt: I like the big pockets that are easily accessible on the belt. Like all MR waist belts, it's easily adjustable and very comfortable. The pack: I am a huge fan of the speed zip access to the lower compartment and I love the vertical zip access to the main compartment. The three pockets in the main compartment are really good for storing smaller objects, and for stabilizing the load. This feature is a very intelligent design idea! The detachable lid has a very roomy main pocket with a sizeable internal zippered pocket for those things you don't want to lose!Carry: On my first outing, I carried about 23 lbs. The hike began with a 1000' elevation gain, followed by a loss of 1250'. Terrain was a well used trail, with some ankle breakers. The pack rode like it wasn't even on my back. It is stable, it is secure to my body, and I've never worn a pack that didn't shift around a bit in-spite of adjustments. The Bridger was PERFECTLY Stable. Finally, the empty pack is lighter than others I've used due to the materials used in construction. THANK YOU Mystery Ranch for this revolutionary new pack system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by rbuirgy from Great pack.I’ve done about a dozen hikes with a 20 lb load, and this pack works well. Easy to dial in the fitting, and the belt & shoulder straps are super comfy and functional. Overall great design!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mountsin hiker from Great well thought out packI got the 55 for a summer overnight pack, winter day pack for in the Canadian Rockies. So far its been with me for 2 trips. The shoulder yoke design is super comfortable and really hugs the body.Only negative comment I have is the pockets on the waist belt are alittle small.

Rated 3 out of 5 by RPIC from Not Dana's best designI've used Mystery Ranch packs for over 20 years. Used to sell Dana Designs in Montana. I love the new wave of designs but this pack isn't as versatile as they'd suggest. Bottom line up front: the suspension isn't as fine tuned as their dedicated backpack line. These are not much lighter either. I have other 50-55 liter packs that weigh much less and carry a lot more. The 55 liter is fixed. Want to attach your tent to the side of your pack using compression straps? Forget about it. Most Mystery straps are huge, with lots of extra to strap on large diameter objects. Once the main body is packed, this thing can barely strap a fishing rod on. Small backpacking chair? Tent? Ground pad? Absolutely not. The triangle strap design prevents this. Bottom sleeping bag straps? Can't even strap on a foam pad. As for pack comfort, it's a noisy, creeking suspension. Fabric is nice to the touch but tension points with the new harness, by the neck, puts load lifter straps in awkward tension. I love the chest harness pockets, but not sure the design is fully baked. My old ArcLight, Glacier and Terraplane packs carry much better and are far more adaptable. Love the brand, i would just skip this one or, make sure you pack it fully and wear it at the store before you purchase it to make sure it fits your needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OldFMO67 from Not yet open country tested, great on the TreadmilI'm torn. I really wanted the Bridger 65 but not in the Orange. So I bought the 55. Now the 65 is available. But, also I have been 'training' with the 55 on the treadmill and it is great! First trip is in a few weeks and I'll know more real world use then.
