The Friends of the GNFAC (Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center) is a 501c3 Non-Profit dedicated to financial support of the GNFAC and avalanche education for the backcountry community of South West Montana.

With grants and fundraising efforts, The Friends can support the GNFAC invest in, and maintain; weather stations, mtavalanche.com, snowmobiles, and social media – tools necessary for avalanche forecasters to deliver high quality, informative, and potentially lifesaving Avalanche Advisories on a daily basis.

In addition to the daily advisory, the GNFAC’s education program offers the SW Montana community, Gold Standard education on avalanche awareness and safety that teaches the value of good judgment in the backcountry. These courses are offered all year long throughout the region.

GNFAC website offers invaluable information including weather, accident reporting, avalanche articles for further education, snow pilot data snow pilot data and online tutorials to further explore the backcountry community.
