Doubling as a daypack for scouting, this detachable lid adds additional volume to the Guide Light MT™ framed packs in our Hunting line.
Additional storage for hydration and other essential gear.
The detachable, HUNTING DAYPACK LID has two separate compartments to better organize your gear. It is ported for a hydration reservoir and tuck-away shoulder straps that convert lid into day pack perfect for stalking.
NOTE: The Hunting Daypack Lid is compatible only with packs using the Guide Light MT™ frame. It is not compatible with the Ultra Light MT frame used by the new 2023 Metcalf packs. Please see our Ultra Light Daypack Lid for packs on a Ultra Light MT frame

I feel this item is a great addition to any of the compatible packs when a little more room is needed for quick accessible items. This includes rain gear, extra layers to be added or taken off during a stalk or climb. Other items that fit is my mid size tripod and spotter. One in each pocket. If filled with soft goods it also makes a good shooting rest either on the top of the pack or slid down onto the front of the pack, depending on position or height needed. It is Great quality like all MR products. I do wish the pack straps were removable without having to cut them off permanently. That is my only fault and probably not a big deal for most. Highly recommend.

Except for the fact that I really wish I had more exterior pockets. Adding this Day Pack Lid is phenomenally. Plenty of extra room and large enough to really make a difference. Extra straps and clips made it super easy to put on with options of how I personally wanted it. I run the Mountains now for predators and can’t wait to get back in my elk woods for Shed hunting all the way to Elk Season. Nailed it on this one for a awesome addition that I was personally needing. Thanks MYSTERY RANCH

Rated 5 out of 5 by 406Bowhunter from A great addition to any compatible pack.I recently used the Hunting Daypack Lid on a 4 day backcountry hunt out of my Sawtooth 45. It held essential items such as my rain gear, headlamp, and snacks. When inclement weather rolled in, the zippers gear nice dry. The ability to take the lid off my main pack and use it separately was nice for quick, slip-in stalks away from camp where I only wanted to carry a couple of necessary items.

I found that combining this with the Mule (Bag only) and the guide lite frame I had the perfect amount of room for a day pack without anything extra. I place the lid between the bag and frame. It holds my kill kit in one pocket and less commonly used yet essential gear in the other. This frees up room for optics, layers and food in the main bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Corey from Excellent addition to the SawtoothI used an extra set of accessory straps to attach this on a pre 2020 model and it works great. I love the hydration option as it makes it much easier access to refill a bladder when hauling gear.

It isn’t perfect and fits loose if the bag isn’t pretty full, but you don’t need a lid if the bag isn’t full right? As a day pack, it worked as intended. Had room for 2L bladder, possibles bag, first aid kit, rain jacket, and lunch/snacks. Rigged up a couple bungees on top to hold a mid layer after shedding. Only complaint is that the day pack straps tuck away in a little pocket but nothing holds them in there so I find myself constantly repacking them.
