Rated 5 out of 5 by Thomas from Versatile, comfortable, and dynamicI'm a whitetail hunter in TN that does not own land or farm. I primarily use public WMA's and live in an apartment, so dragging and butchering is not an option for me. I shot 6 deer this year and 1 caribou in AK, using this pack to haul everything out. I absolutely love it, it allows you to carry awkward items with ease as well as all your essentials. My AK hunt was 4 days long and was able to hold everything I needed (camp, gear, food, tools) and haul Rudolph out. I will for sure be buying the plinter bag only option for my big game western hunts next year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by phillydee from Nice and simple pack for day huntsThis is a great pack and the bag-only option is what sold me since I already had the frame. The size is a great compliment to the other two bags I have, the Printer and the Sawtooth both of which are larger and sometimes a bit much for a fast and light day hunt. My only complaint is the side pockets. I'm not quite sure what they're for. They're too loose to trust them to hold a bottle or anything else for that matter, and there are no drawcords to pull them tight. So for me they sit there flapping around, completely unused. Since they're not very useful I'd rather they weren't there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Awesome day packPerfect size for a day hunt. With the guide light frame it's so comfortable you almost don't notice it there. Then it has the capability of loading as much weight as your knees can handle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from This can carry anythingI bought this bag only to add to my frame when just doing day trips up here in Alaska. It has been an awesome pack so far. Last week we shot a bull moose and had to pack it out over 2 1/2 miles. I packed out 115 pound hindquarter with no problem what so ever. The picture I have added is of the pack with a 85 pound front quarter. I couldn’t be happier with this pack.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Tim C from Incompatible with some MR frames!I'm the happy owner to 2 2017 MR ski packs (Saddle Peak and Gallatin, they are phenomenal) and in 2018 I purchased the Metcalf. Love the Metcalf too, even though it was hard to come to terms with the price tag. So I decided to purchase the Mule bag only in April 2020 to increase the modular system approach of the Guide Light frame. When the Mule arrived I tried to install it on my 2018 Guide Lite frame only to find the buckles are incompatible between both. Hmmmm. I phoned the shop where I purchased this and they said "Oh ya, that's a known issue and MR is making a buckle conversion kit that we'll stock and send out shortly. $15." Ok, easy solution, so I'll just buy that and convert.Fast forward 4 months to August 2020, getting very close to opening day here in Beautiful British Columbia, 3 monthly calls back to my shop "no, the conversions haven't arrived yet, we'll phone you when they do." If they do??? So I go direct and email and phone MR to find out that MR will not ship this conversion to Canadian customers, although MR has happily taken my money through a Canadian retailer. MR did, however, point me to one Canadian dealer that they did supply some conversions to, which is another province away from where I initially purchased the Mule bag only. So I phoned them. "Ya, we have those. $49 + $14 shipping." Boy, that's a lot of money for some plastic clips that should be $15.Strike 1: I think it could be made much clearer on the website which YEARS of the Guide Lite frame this is compatible with. I don't pay enough attention to the marketing jargon year to year to know the compatibility nuances of a Guide Lite vs. a Guide Lite MT. Quite frankly, the buckle conversion should be an optional add-on, online or direct retail sales, for people buying these bag-only options, just to trigger the COMPATIBILITY conversation.Strike 2: Customer support not shipping this conversion kit to the country where I originally purchased it is a fail. Period. And then not supporting that Canadian dealer in a timely fashion.Strike 3: Overall price of the original bag is pretty high, but $49 for what amounts to some plastic clips and straps just to make it functional is obscene.I hope this review helps some customers save themselves some $$$ and hassle, and also helps MR improve some things in the future for customers like me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 900s from Piecing my MR system togetherLet me start off by saying I love everything I have bought so far, the mule bag was the addition to my pack system so I would have something smaller for day use, love it so far.I hope someone in the design part of MR reads this next part, I purchased the byno harness an quick draw range finder pouch from Midway love both but I wish instead of the tiny pockets on the side of the harness there was a way to connect the two together. Just my 2 cents

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chuck B from Simple and efficientGreat addition to my Metcalf. Easy to swap out when I only need a daypack. Covered whether it’s an afternoon in the whitetail woods or a backcountry hunt out west. Looking forward to putting it through its paces this fall. Another great product from Mystery Ranch!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Surf490 from Check comparabilityPurchased the Mule bag only option. I wanted a smaller pack than my Metcalf for day hikes/hunting trips. The bag is the same high quality bag that I would expect from Mystery Ranch. My only issue is that the new mule bag buckets are not compatible with older guidelite frames. My Metcalf was bought in 2018 and from what I was told by customer service there was a change to the buckles in 2020. There is a kit on the accessories page to make the new bag compatible with the older frames. Unfortunately they are currently out of stock. I am a little disappointed I won’t be able to use my new pack for this upcoming hunting season, but I can blame myself for waiting until the last minute. I wanted to write this review so that anyone else considering this bag won’t run into the same issue as me. I also wanted to point out that customer service was very helpful!
