A streamlined, load-hauling pack for overnight hunts.

We all know those who desire a streamlined pack able to organize everything for a big day out or a quick overnight hunt. The redesigned PINTLER provides numerous internal pockets for easy organization all in a low-profile package, as well as having the secret weapon OVERLOAD® feature for the long packout. The PINTLER is built on our Guide Light MT™ Frame.

  • The new GUIDE LIGHT MT™ FRAME (Mystery Tech) continues the load carriage tradition of the tried- and-true Guide Light Frame™ and its rigid yet dynamic frame system, but with a few discrete changes. Utilizing custom-developed SJ Autolock buckles throughout, this new hardware collection provides the perfect blend of strength and weight. The 500D Light Plus fabric delivers high tensile and tear resistance, key characteristics for a robust, purpose-driven hunting frame.
  • OVERLOAD® feature provides functional expandability via a load sling between the pack and the frame, allowing you to put the bulk of the weight closest to your back for optimal comfort.
  • The patented Futura Yoke easily micro adjusts to the torso length allowing the proper amount of stand-off between the back and frame.
  • The five-point waist belt incorporates the highly functional Redirect system and delivers solid weight distribution and eliminates slippage over your hips, regardless of the load.
  • 3-ZIP design for rapid and complete access to gear
  • Compatible with Quick Attach Accessory Straps for bow or rifle carry
  • Daisy chain for attaching accessories
  • Two internal dump pockets
  • Four internal zip pockets
  • Bottom, front and side compression straps

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect FunctionalityExcellent pack. As a mountain guide and alpine climber, I am very particular about how my backpacks carry, how streamlined they are for heavy activity and performance. Last week I shot a 4x4 bull elk and packed out using my new Pintler and couldn't be more happy with the balance (even with an awkward load including bivy gear, meat AND head/antlers), and function of every feature without having too many bells and whistles. Simplicity and function are key! There is plenty of room for a few days worth of food, solo tent, etc. I'm 5'10" and 155lbs and the Medium fits perfectly with plenty of room for layering up. Nice work, Mystery Ranch!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack!Absolutely love this pack, especially when packing out. This is my first year using it and have packed out 2 elk and a deer. The overload shelf can easily handle two elk quarters. Comfortable and durable. I love how the pack can adjust to fit the needed size, big when you need it, small when you want it. The only criticism I have is there is no way to secure a hydration bladder hose to the strap, so I end up tucking it under some webbing. Overall the most comfortable and versatile pack i've ever owned!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 24 hour pack outVery impressive pack. First use for this pack was a week long Elk hunt, in which we were successful. The pack out was mega, 24 hours to be accurate. The Pintler handled the task like a boss. My final load had over 100lbs of meat, plus my hunting gear. I couldn't believe how sturdy that pack holds weight. Not to mention the fact that you don't have to stuff your game bags inside your pack with the rest of your gear. One of the guys in our crew had frame pack which ended up buckling and breaking under the weight. The other three of us in the group had Mystery Ranch packs and no one had an issue, except sore feet. The pack has a great pocket configuration and zipper system. Everyone who has picked mine up wants one. You won't be disappointed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pintler first thoughts.Just received my Pintler. Once adjusted the fit and comfort is outstanding. I would recommend getting a size smaller than you measure.. I measure at an Extra large Yoke on the chart. However once the pack was adjusted I was as short as I could go with the XL Yoke. The internal layout of the pack is great. Love the sleeve pockets on the inside of the pack. They make a great place for tripod and spotter and it is super easy and quick to get to. I think I am going to used one sleeve pocket for the stuff you may need through out the day. (first aid kit, TP, and small water filter) I am not sure what the "hoop" pockets are designed for on back/sides on the inside of the pack.. I love the Tri-Zip design. It makes it super easy to pack and to get to stuff on the bottom of the pack once loaded. The Overload Shelf is the bomb! What a great idea and design. It allows you to expand for packing in camp, Compress to daypack for the hunt, and Expand back out to haul meat and camp back out.. Looking forward to many years of hard comfortable use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Pintler to rule them all...The Pintler is an absolute stud of a pack. I was torn between this pack & Metcalf. The Pintler won. The weight is exceptional for what you’re getting. Internal storage is A+. I’m running 2-SO Possibilities 4L sacs for organization in the Pintler it’s super clean & light. It’s a perfect daypack for early to late season w/ample room to spare. My main hold up was taking it for backcountry hunts that it would not have enough room. The first weekend of archery elk in MT cemented the Pintler as the right choice. I threw my camp (tent, sleeping bag and pad, cook kit) in a 35L dry bag and used the load shelf to haul it to spike camp. I was able to drop of camp and keep the main bag set up for lightweight hunting during day use. It worked flawless, being the best of both worlds. There’s no doubt this pack will handle the abuse of the backcountry. It’s truly just as comfortable to carry loaded down with camp as for day use and leaves me with little doubt with its integrity loaded with game.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from DisappointedThere are definitely some pluses to this pack. The frame, pack bag, and overall functionality seem to be solid. I have had this pack for one season. I packed out three elk and spent roughly 2 weeks in the field. The 2 star rating is because I have major durability concerns with this pack. I intend to either return this pack or get it repaired and sell it. After packing out the first elk of the season my belt began to tear. This appears to be a major design flaw. Inside the belt is a white piece of plastic with sharp edges. With time this will wear straight through your belt. I assume they sewed this plastic in to help the belt keep it's shape but something else needs done. (Wish I could attach a pic) Next is the stitching on the pack. There are multiple areas where the threads are fraying and looks like they are going to pull out in no time. I haven't even had this pack in the rain or snow and can only imagine how it going to hold up after multiple seasons. At $475 I had much higher expectations for the durability of the Pintler.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best purchase this season! After a ton of research, I bought the bear tooth 80 for backpack hunting then purchased the pintler bag only option. Both have not only met my expectations but have exceeded them. The overload feature is something I couldn’t do without! The fit and function of the pack was everything I needed. I can swap between bags easily. Most importantly it was very comfortable no matter how much weight I had loaded in it or how how long of a hike it was. I packed out 2 elk hindquarters in one load over 2 miles out in the mountains of Utah. This pack has had 3 different elk, my father in laws Henry mountain deer and my limited entry bull this season. I have been recommending it to everyone I know! Awesome pack and best purchase this season!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal PackWith years of abuse on my aging body, I upgraded from Badlands to the MR Pintler last year. The fit, design and comfort are excellent, as is the load shelf. I can haul an entire deer out in one trip with the Pintler pack design, and more comfortably than with my old pack frame. I liked it so much that I purchased the MR Scree for light duty hiking and fishing trips. MR fan for life.
