The POP UP FRAME – easily expand and adjust to carry loads up to 80 lbs.

The POP UP 38 originated from hunters’ feedback wanting a bigger pack option on this game-changing frame series. It features a large main compartment which can be accessed via a top loading shroud or by the full-length side zipper. The two-part lid keeps key items within reach while helping to secure and protect spotting scopes and tripods stashed in the outer, compressible pocket (which is also perfect for tucking away a puffy or rain gear.) Dual side pockets hold trekking poles, water bottles or longer tripods and the Autolock buckles and compression straps throughout cinch down firmly, preventing slippage. The unique telescoping frame goes from low profile to maximized load lifting in seconds, and the OVERLOAD® feature is ready for when the game is on the ground.

  • The POP-UP FRAME feature converts this daypack into a load-hauling system. For those shorter, successful day hunts when shouldering out the brutal weight is necessary for extraction. This function allows the frame to easily expand and adjust to carry loads up to 80 lbs. It features expandable pole stays and load shelf.
  • OVERLOAD® feature provides functional expandability via a load sling between the pack and the frame, allowing you to put the bulk of the weight closest to your back for optimal comfort.
  • The patented Futura Yoke easily micro adjusts to the torso length allowing the proper amount of stand-off between the back and frame.
  • New Pop Up frame with telescoping frame utilizing trekking pole technology
  • Zippered lid pocket
  • Compressible back pocket allows quick access to optics or layers
  • Bottom, top and side compression straps
  • Top-loading shroud with full length zipper for main compartment access

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The golden ticket?!I have just received pack in the mail and couldnt be more stoked. I have always been a huge fan and supporter of MR, but this packs build quality is above and beyond. I was able to use the Pop Up 28 last year on several succesful hunts including on my bull elk. The frame handled the bone in quarters with ease. The extra volume and pockets should only make for an even better experience. Others have pointed out that the pack when empty will not sit flush or tight to the frame. By using the top side compression straps to wrap around the entire bag, this issue is corrected in minutes and hold the bag extremely tight to the frame with zero issues. This can also be done with the lower side compressions for even tighter compression.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size, good features.I have not used this for hunting yet. I’ll be using it this fall for archery elk hunting in Colorado. There is a lot of slack in the pack between the bag and the frame, but this was easily fixed with two carabiners. The pack is nice because when lightly packed it can be sinched down to essentially a small day pack with a beefy waist belt, or packed big for a full on backpacking pack. When looking online the pack seemed like it would be clunky to use based on how the top lid/ main compartment were set up, but that’s not an issue. The top loading/ full access zipper for the main compartment is awesome.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great conceptUsed for some upland hunting and one mule deer day hunt so far. The pack rides great, the frame is solid and it handles a load well. The layout and oversized lid are great, I really like the two pocket lid design. My only complaint is that the bag cannot be snugged to the frame. It flops around loosely unless you have a decent amount (1/3 - 1/2) of the space filled within the bag. The buckles and strap placement don't allow it to be fully secured, there's about 2-3" of bare space between the frame and bag. This also leaves the lid sliding both directions. However, if you always have enough gear to keep it semi-full. It's perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great PackI just bought this pack a couple weeks ago but I’m impressed. I had a eberlestock J107 for the longest time and hated the top pouch how it sagged down and pulled the pack down as well as it being way big on my frame. This pack fits perfect and has tons of room if you need it. I’ve loaded it up as if I’m going on a day hunt and have loaded it heavy if I’m going on a multi day hunt and it fits everything. Very impressed with MR Pop up 38. As a fire fighter I’ve always used MR for my line pack and 14 day bags so I’ve been a big fan from the beginning. Now with the hunting packs and this being the first I’ve owned, I will never buy another pack but MR. Well Done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good backpack! At one point I was going to buy a bigger backpack from mystery ranch. Then I seen this one, the pop up 38 and this is the one I wanted. It’s a well designed back pack and the size will fool you, but has plenty of room for 3 day to even 5 day hunts, just have to be frugal. Love this backpack and would recommend this backpack to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great QualityUsed for four or fives hikes/hunts. I’m 6’-4” tall. Material quality is top notch. All plastic buckles/snaps seem very durable. Waist belt is super comfortable. Being as tall as I am I have to extend the overload poll’s to 3/4 extension. This is fine as it’s not in the way(over my head) and doesn’t snap up on low hanging trees. Plenty of room for a efficient backpacker. Still trying to put a deer in the meat loader so no opinion on that, but can assume the pack handles/distributes the extra weight just fine. Great pack. Love it for half day hikes as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome pack! Few changes could make it great!I bought this about a month ago and I really like it. I think adding a rifle boot to the waist belt could enhance comfort when carrying a rifle. I also think deepening the side pockets and putting an elastic hole to the bottom would make carrying shooting sticks or hiking poles easier. I also think recessing the buckles between the frame and the pack would prevent the pack from sagging when not in the load bearing configuration (i.e., move the buckle from edge of the pack to the side or further back so it remains taught). The loose pack makes it slide forward against neck/head when laying prone to glass or shoot. All in all great pack so far though. Glad I bought it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from comfortable, easy to use.I received the back about 6 weeks ago and finally had a chance to use it. It ws only to pack my pack raft and fishing gear into a "remote" pond ( about 1 1/4 mile in) . The raft, paddlers and exposure clothing etc all went into a dry bag and the dry back with onto the "meat shelf". The whole thing didn't weight much but it was a good test of fit and adjusting. I liked the bag, a lot of smart innovations that kept things neat ( velco on the straps ! ) . The pack was comfortable and easy to adjust to fit me on one side, the dry bag on the other side of the fame. Sadly no trout were hurt in the expedition.....
