A versatile backpack for light and fast adventures.

The RAVINE 50 is ready to travel with you; highway, high in the sky, or on foot in the mountains. This pack crosses over for those who want it all for getting out and seeing the world. The 3-ZIP access makes loading and retrieving items from the pack quick and easy. It has two long, vertical pockets for external organization. The frame is lightweight yet beefy enough to support larger loads. The removable, double-wrap, redirect waist belt integrates directly with the frame for a dynamic, efficient carry without the hassle of extra straps.

  • The mainframe is comprised of two vertical composit stays and a molded lumbar frame sheet for added structure. Through patented features and construction methods, the mainframe transfers the weight of the load into the wings which relay the weight and equalizes the contact around and into the belt. The waist belt cants and conforms over the hips to effectively transfer and distribute the weight and eliminate slippage down over the hips.
  • The patented Futura Yoke easily micro adjusts to the torso length allowing the proper amount of stand-off between the back and frame.
  • Featuring our classic 3-ZIP design for easy, rapid access to the interior.
  • Features a removable, double-wrap, Redirect waist belt system that secures in a natural, forward pull direction that requires less effort to tighten.
  • 3-ZIP design for quick, easy access
  • Side compression straps
  • Two, exterior long pockets
  • Two lid pockets
  • Water bottle pockets
  • Hydration reservoir compatible
  • Adjustable tool attachment
  • 210D & 330D Robic fabric

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Response to zipper qualityThis is a response to my prior review regarding poor zipper quality. I sent the pack back to Mystery Ranch for repairs and they have renewed my faith! Only two zippers were failing but the service department replaced the entire zipper tape on all three zippers, as well as a few other minor tears on the pack. All the work was fully covered under warranty and they even covered the shipping back to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Compact Pack for a 4-5 day trip.To put the Ravine 50 to the test, I went on a quick 3 day backpacking trip to Ozark National Forest and bushwacked/forded creeks for the majority of the time. The durability of the materials held up well for how hard I was treating it (tossing it, dragging it, etc.) This is my first Mystery Ranch Backpack, so the open-center zipper design took some getting used to, but proved infinitely better than traditional top open backpacks. To put in perspective how space efficient the 50L is; I packed a Kelty Salida 2, Katadyn Vario Water Filter, Jet Boil Flash, GSI Soloist, and managed to still have room for my bear/smellable bag with food for 3+days. Getting in and out of the main space was so much more efficient. The "double-brain" compartment was well thought out.Look forward to many more trips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal Design and workmanship. MR nailed it perfectly on this one.I own A LOT of packs. They all have attractive features, but none of them have really met my needs like the Ravine. I have a long torso, so most packs are not tall enough so that the load lifter straps can do their job (45 degree angle). This one (XL) is perfect height. I love the vertical zipper so that I can get into the pack with ease, as well as the two angle zippers. The top has two compartments for gloves, electrolytes, sunglasses. The two vertical pockets are awesome for things like Helinox folding trekking poles, water filter, etc. The water bottle pockets can actually hold and secure water bottles, love the band around the top of the pocket. The waist belt pockets are ample size for a GPS, Clif bar, etc. Waist belt is way supportive and comfortable. Due to the Adventure frame design, I have no doubt that the suspension can handle 50-60 lbs without breaking down. the shoulder yoke harness fits perfectly. Love the water bladder pouch, as it is nice to hike with one. This pack has every single feature that I need. Sleek in nature, but is capable of holding everything that I need to carry. This will be my go-to pack from now on. Can't think of anything that I would change.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Zipper quality poorI bought the first version of the Ravine and initially loved it. However after a few years of use the 3-zip access has proved to be a weakness of the pack rather than a strength. Full disclosure I am on a SAR team in Colorado so the pack does get used almost every weekend. The 3-zip access was one of the main attractive features for this pack, being able to access all your equipment without pulling out all equipment makes the Ravine attractive for a SAR application. But instead the 3-zip has started to fail me. On a recent mission the large vertical center zip broke open while hiking up the trail and gear spilled out the back of my pack, very unprofessional. At this point I have little confidence that I can continue using the pack which is unfortunate as I love so many of the other features. Generous zippered hip pockets, real sized water bottle holders, the compression system adapts to hold extra gear externally. It's a shame the 3-zip access can't keep up. I will not be recommending this pack to any of the other SAR teams I work with in the state.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable with Heavier Loads and Great AccessI am really impressed with this pack, I use it for SAR so usually end up carrying more weight than I generally would like and this pack handles it great. The TriZip is awesome for quick access to items at the bottom of the pack and the hip belt pockets are large enough for my GPS and snacks. The torpedo pockets are excellent for organization.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pack!I bought this pack to replace a smaller issued pack (not MR) that was just too small and had no features. It has met or exceeded my expectations in every way! I use it mainly for SAR in the White Mountain of NH and already in a year has been put through the ringer. The volume is perfect for me, being able to carry enough gear for a day rescue but still have enough space for overnight survival gear and victim clothing. I have the confidence to use it for "shorter" winter rescues when I don't want the weight of my expedition-sized pack simply because I can still cram enough junk in.It has held up very well with minor wear through a beating of off-trail searches in the higher-elevation insanely thick spruce-fir garbage that holds on to everything, through steep drainages and nasty rock-rubbing above treeline. For me the pack carries weight very well, even much heavier loads and strapping a victim's pack on the top with a gear-bra. I like the simple tri-zip to get at anything in the main compartment, long outer pockets to through micro-spikes in and a rain jacket and hip pockets where I always have contact gloves and a beanie. I'm glad I have this pack and know that it'll serve me for many years to come!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My first Pack !This was my first pack I have purchased, I am very happy with the overall design and functions of the Ravine 50 liter. I alomsot went with the stein 65 , but found that a 50 liter pack is perfect for a 3 day trip. A bonus is the awesome Center zippier that will have all your buddys jelly !!!!
