A military-inspired pack for life's daily recon.

The RIP RUCK is a prime example of cross-utilizing our design inspirations. This pack blends organization and access features we initially developed for military use, and yet they translate perfectly to the urban “battlefield.” The top pocket has a Rip Zip opening to provide swift access to daily essentials. The padded, zippered laptop sleeve has additional room for a tablet or docs. Load up the RIP RUCK and deploy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very DurableBought it 3 years ago for college, crammed it full of heavy text books, water bottles etc, and it barely has a scratch. Spilled water in it too and the material dries very fast. Cushoning on back is resonably comfortable. Fits a laptop and about 3 big textbooks. My only gripe is the side pockets aren't quite big enough for a water bottle. Zipper is also very durable and all of them work. Not as big as a swiss army knife bag pack, but it is cooler and more stylish and better for the urban commute.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally found it!!I have carried several bags in my years upon this earth and for my business and personal travel, this fits the immediate bill. I have had backs from Arc't, Blue Force Gear, SOG, TAG, and many more. This quick access for computer compartment and documents is perfect for gathering my things from under the seat in an Airplane. The two external pockets will hold a water bottle. While the main large compartment is perfect for my soft case with cables and dapper with sales samples. Plus room for a light coat or additional equipment. The only thing lacking is a admin pocket in the Lap Top compartment. I currently hang pens off the elastic strap inside, but routinely they fall off. Yes, there is the mesh pocket in the main compartment, however I would prefer to open one compartment to access the computer, notebook and pen. Yes, I am being petty here. would like to see some lightweight velcro added to the internal main compartment. A place to store a CCW or any small velcro dapper pouches. Again, being petty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome craftsmanship and comfortableI’ve been using this bag daily for about 3 weeks,I absolutely love the simplicity, features, zippers ,weight and compartments. Its got a gun compartment that holds my full sized back up pistol in place well. Its tactical without being like a billboard for an air soft company.I honestly would have picked up this bag months ago had I known it had the inside compartments it does.there a removable plastic backing for the support against your back on the pack .its easily removed for when I need to collapse the bag.Ive used this a lot on the water and my gear in the main compartment has always stayed dry.its a day pack not a 3 day pack .Theres enough room for my gear and my K9’s gear .Ill be a life long customer at the rate this going.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Work EDC and Carry OnThe pictures concerned me that the bag would be “puffy” like the old Alice pack, but the main storage compartment stays sleek and comfortable for EDC when traveling to and from work with few items in it, but still has plenty of space for essentials when I use it as my carry on. My biggest concern was whether or not my 40oz hydroflask water bottle would fit in one of the front pockets without falling out. It’s like it was designed perfectly for it. Fits snug, easily placed and removed, and I use the other side for chargers, headphones a knife. It was slightly smaller than I thought it was going to be, which worked even better for me, but could be a concern of your looking for a pack to carry 2-3 days worth of items in.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Its pretty goodSo i used expert voice and got a decent discount of 47%. I've eyed Mystery ranch's gear for probably a half decade now and decided to get one. I recently got out of the military in feb and throughout my enlist i heard nothig but good things about them. I couldnt really find any reviews or video on this ruck at all. So lets start with its a bit smaller than i was expecting- how ever it does have a nice rigid backing to it, laptop and hydro compartment, as well as the two obvious admin pouches on the front. I will say that the zippers except the laptop one tends to get stuck every so often but it has great quality so im not so worried about hurting the bag just more annoying than anything. I usually don't spend this much on gear even with the discount but all and all i think im happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, versatile packGrabbed this for an EDC/day hiking pack and have been thoroughly impressed with its versatility. Material is nice and light yet rugged enough to protect your stuff.Laptop compartment and sleeve are well designed. Holds a Macbook snugly and the placement of the sleeve is well thought out. The laptop sleeve will also hold up to a 3L Camelbak bladder and it feeds exceptionally well. The diagonally cut document holders will hold more than documents. There is enough room in this compartment to hold a light extra layer, such as a fleece or lightweight puffy if folded down flat and slim. It will also hold a couple freeze dried meals or MREs.Main compartment is relatively small but will easily accommodate laptop and camera accessories, charging cables, tripods, zoom lenses etc. I'd imagine that 2-3 textbooks would carry well. I have managed to load this up for a long day hike along with a 'just in case' kit: tarp, bivvy, water purifier, firestarting kit, multitool, headlamp, medium fixed blade knife, cordage, extra socks, even an inflatable pillow. The velcro mesh pocket is great for keys, a compact flashlight, etc. I prefer to keep my wallet and phone in the tablet sleeve if not in pockets.Outer pockets WILL fit a 32oz Nalgene bottle. No, the top flap will not close over it, either leave the flap hanging over or tuck it into the pocket. I have had zero retention issues with this setup. The placement of the pouch makes it a little difficult to reach the bottle while wearing the pack, which is why I mentioned that the laptop sleeve will accommodate a water bladder; I think it is the inherently better option for trail use.The outer pockets are also great for compact binos, cameras, medical kits, etc. Each outer pocket will also hold 3 STANAGs with the flap closed. The frame is comfortable and holds the pack against the body. It can get a little sweaty but the mesh does allow some airflow. The lack of a waist belt means you can easily push the pack away from your back for a few seconds to cool off. The straps are seriously comfortable. Wore this on a 2500 vert climb (read: no trail, just straight up a mountain) and I never once felt any hotspots or had to readjust. The minimalist webbing makes it easy to secure a water bladder hose. Sternum strap is easily adjustable for height and easily removed. Zippers are top notch, no issues there.TL;DR: This pack rocks, get it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent carry on travel packI bought this sack as it was nicely sized as a primary carry on for aircraft and commuter vehicles. Main selling point for me was the well designed laptop and document compartment with a weather resistant zip. Main compartment fits my OR Refuge jacket in its pack pocket and a Patagonia rain shell, leaving enough space for my Nikon D700 DSLR with a 24mm lens and my 700ml Hydroflask and a few small soft items like hats and gloves. Laptop compartment swallows my MB Air and the A4 sized plastic sleeve that I use for travel documents as well as my passport wallet organiser.Front pockets are small. My Oakley medium sized soft case basically fills one and I really don't consider these pockets as viable water bottle holders. If there was a Mollie or similar attachment loops stitched into the webbing for the main compartment fastex buckle, it would really make sense to allow attachment of an admin or other pouch that could fit around 2 AR Mags or a litre sized Nalgene between the two outer pockets. For its size and possible weight load outs, carrying 10kg all day is comfortable as the padding and rigid back system is decent even though there isn't a waist belt (for this size sack I prefer just shoulder straps).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome pack! Worth the money!I bought this pack about a month ago as a day pack for hiking. I knew I didn’t need a full size pack, so I went with this one. This pack is AMAZING! The bottle pockets can both fit a traditional nalgene, but it takes some space away from the main compartment and the flaps won’t close to cover them, but they’re in there snug enough to not fall out when you pack falls down a rack face (don’t ask me how I know please). The zippers are tight at first, but they break in with use. I chose the mystery pop color option and it freaking rocks!! I personally hate the same color options every pack has so it’s nice having a unique appearance. The only downside I can find (and it’s hardly a downside), is that there isn’t a waist band, but the comfort of the shoulder straps easily makes up for that. I sweat, like a lot, so having a breathable pack is a must for me, and this pack was the first to blow me away. The airflow is honestly ridiculous and I love it. In the pictures the zipper tab strings look orangeish, but they’re red, trust me, my camera’s just weird. I also show the load I carry which leaves me enough space for plenty of snacks and a dry set of clothes (again, I sweat a lot, judge me). If you’re like me when I bought this and you’re stuck between 2 different options, choose this one 10 out of 10 would recommend this pack.
