Low-profile silhouette and ingenious organization.

With the same unique 270° zipper access as the Beartooth, the SAWTOOTH 45’s low-profile silhouette and ingenious organization hits the mark for backcountry hunters. Built on our Guide Light MT Frame™ utilizing burly yet lightweight fabrications, it incorporates the patented OVERLOAD® feature with the a newly designed, quick-attach frame capture for easier access to the shelf for packing out your harvest. It’s roomy enough for a fast and light overnighter as well as being perfectly suited for dawn ‘til dusk hunts where coming out by headlamp is the norm.

  • The new GUIDE LIGHT MT FRAME™ (Mystery Tech) continues the load carriage tradition of the tried- and-true GUIDE LIGHT FRAME™ and its rigid yet dynamic frame system, but with a few discrete changes. Utilizing custom-developed SJ Autolock buckles throughout, this new hardware collection provides the perfect blend of strength and weight. The 500D Light Plus fabric delivers high tensile and tear resistance, key characteristics for a robust, purpose-driven hunting frame.
  • OVERLOAD® feature provides functional expandability via a load sling between the pack and the frame, allowing you to put the bulk of the weight closest to your back for optimal comfort.
  • The patented Futura Yoke easily micro adjusts to the torso length allowing the proper amount of stand-off between the back and frame.
  • The five-point waist belt incorporates the highly functional Redirect system and delivers solid weight distribution and eliminates slippage over your hips, regardless of the load.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent hunting packIn my never ending quest to lighten my load while hunting I decided to try the Mystery Ranch Sawtooth. Initially I was just ecstatic that my new pack was nearly half the weight of my previous pack, but that was just the beginning of the benefits. I love how easy it is to quickly access my gear with the wrap around zipper. After a week in the field I finally had the opportunity to pack out a bull elk. I never imagined carrying a hind quarter could equate to anything but pure suffering, thankfully I was wrong. The meat shelf system flat out works. I strongly recommend this pack to my hunting buddies whenever we start talking about gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another step forward!I've used three Mystery Ranch packs over the past 10 years for around 30 days a year in the field chasing elk. I liked my original Dragon Slayer pack but it lacked meat hauling capability so I upgraded to the Pintler, which I really like. This year, I upgraded to the new Sawtooth because its a little lighter and I thought that the layout of the pack would work better for my needs. So far I believe the new Sawtooth is a home run. The waist belt is also improved and seems to cushion a load a little better. In general, I think this pack is just a little better in about every way than my Pintler. I like the new frame, I like the new fabric, and I like the new belt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super versatileI’ve used the pack for sheep and axis in Hawaii and elk and antelope in Montana. It really shines for all day elk hunting and very light overnighters. Carries really well and very comfortable. New waist belt with molle is much improved. Love the foliage color and organization. It is tougher to utilize the full zip with the rigid waist belt. One that flattened would be much better. The load lifters also get in the way of the top pocket and top load but without them the top of the bag droops down low. If the bag attaches to the top of the frame that would be much better. That and if it were a pound lighter I’d give It 5 stars and have it for a decade at least.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Suspension/FrameI upgraded my 3-Day Assault pack that I've had since my deployment to Afg in 2013-2014 and the Sawtooth 45 is in a completely different league. Though the frames are similarly adjustable for torso height the new pack comfortably rests on my hips and takes the weight off my shoulders letting me hike longer and stay cooler. Happy I traded up. Only issue I have is that the chest strap sits a lot higher (just a few inches below my chin) even when properly adjusted for my height--no more clipping my radio or GPS on there. Besides that, my only complaint is that its heavy for a day/overnight pack but the storage features make it compelling.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great backpack. Couple small things left desiredThe backpack overall is a great product. The hauling rack is great handled weight very well. I love the layout of the internal compartment and the pouches to organize things.Couple things I noticed after using it for the recent archery hunt. The shoulder straps have already started to show wear on them on the chest area. Second the pack has a squeak to it. I was hoping it would be more quiet. Last the zippers are difficult to use. I felt like I was using more force than necessary to open them. Makes me wonder about the long term durability. I hope these details will be considered for improvement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from amazing packAbsolutely the most comfortable pack I've ever bought, I'm 5'10 200lbs and got a medium, took this thing on a 9 day backpacking hunt in Utah with a couple friends and packed out an 60lb ham down 4 miles of mountain in 85 degree weather no issues. I've always had problems with sweating down my lower back but the design of the frame allowed easy ventilation. Highly recommended product, my only gripe is I'd wish I had ordered an extra external pocket for the waist belt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for load hauling.I bought this before my 2021 hunting season and used the meat shelf on a successful mule deer hunt. I had the pack loaded with my day gear and was able to pack it with 2 quarters and backstraps while still having room to spare. This is the perfect size bag for me, I camp at my vehicle at night and am out with my gear all day and this bag has ample room. I carry a first aid kit, jet boil, food for the day, spotting scope and tripod, rain gear, kill kit, water, mid layers, gloves and a toque and have plenty of room left. This is a great day pack but could definitely serve as an over night pack as long as you have some very small or ultralight tent and sleeping bag, as those typically take up the most room in a pack. Alternatively the meat shelf gives you a ton more packing options and the frame is the best one I've used personally in all my time hunting and using rucksacks in the Army. Very impressed.
