Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hit...and missKind of cool concept for a backpack, love the large (cavernous) top opening with the speed zip access! The other pocket is suitably large with both a velcro top opening AND a side zipper opening...It's as if they couldn't decide, so they decided to hedge their bets. Personally, I don't understand the point, and would prefer just a single zipper opening across the top of this pocket OR a zippered pocket where the zipper curves across the pocket and continues down the side of the pocket (think of the arc'teryx sidewinder jacket). The pack is relatively streamlined except for the clunky aforementioned pocket with two opening routes, good storage options inside this pocket (pens, phone, etc.) and lacks a side water bottle holder. Ultimately, this is an average backpack that is partially doomed by the clunky velcro/zip pocket and mildly redeemed by the speed zip top. Even though it is a brand new offering, I think it requires a redesign.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Undercover Streamlined WorkhorseI purchased this pack after seeing photos online. I was looking for a simple low key pack for daily carry while traveling abroad for work. I am technician, and travel at least twice a month internationally. My EDC consists of a 15 inch ThinkPad, cables, portable charger, pens, flashlight, notebooks, clamp meter, leak detector and a manometer. I have had no issues whatsoever with the pack; and actually prefer it to my PDW Shado Pack that costs twice as much. This bag allows me to roam around without seeming too "tactical" and does not give away that there is a laptop inside. The unique opening system even allows me the extra space to pack a few extra souvenirs that I may pick up along the way. I am very pleased with this bag, and look forward to getting years of use from it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Streamlined bike commuting bagI bought this bag recently and am really impressed, exceeded expectations. Rating is 4.5 stars. I ride my bike 5 miles to work everyday and wear this thing loaded with my 13"laptop, charger, rain shell, change of clothes, food for the day, thermos, Nalgene, several notebooks, and more. Construction is phenomenal and feels good to hold. Curry color looks great. And I really appreciate the creative design. I was nervous at first because of lack of front pouch security and the lack of features. I was also nervous about the volume being too big for me. Contrary to what I heard, I love the design of the velcro front pocket. The velcro does a few things: one, it enables super quick access (i.e. grabbing your bike lock, note book, pen, or keys from the handy key chain with pack still on one shoulder) then slapping it closed. The zippered side part, is only necessary on the occasion I need to dig around for something. I don't think anything is ever going to "fall out"... the pouch is very deep and held securely with buckled straps to the frame. I actually tested the security by filling up the front pouch with my regular items and violently shook it upside down and the flap didn't budge. Two, the velcro lid also enables you to accommodate different load sizes, think: you fill it to the point where the width expands and can still easily and securely close on the velcro tabs in the front. In this same scenario a zipper would not be able to close because the pocket is overfilled. I'm pretty sure the flap will shed water but haven't had it in a storm yet. Sure it might lose stickiness in 15 years, I bet mystery ranch would help sew some new velcro on if that happens. I do wish there was additional storage for all my smaller miscellaneous items like laptop charger, phone charger chapstick, sunscreen, shades, etc., hasn't been too problematic yet. Also, I don't like exterior water bottle holders because they tend to snag on stuff, and water bottles tend to fall out. So MR did well on that as well.I was also worried about the large volume, but I think it is a great size now. The compression straps enable a huge amount of variability in pack size. I cinch the pack close or greatly expand the body if I am hauling tons of stuff. Love the huge top opening for large loads. I have already tested multiple full grocery runs on my way home from work with all the stuff I mentioned earlier and worked like a charm. The pack wears very comfortably. The only significant downsides for me is as mentioned not having an additional pocket (or two) for smaller items. - .5 stars for this. Also, the pack does not stand up or even lean up very well against a wall. This is because the shape of the the pack tapers making the bottom a smaller blade-like area. While it is a little inconvenient, this doesn't dock my rating because this same shape makes it excel for cycling and helps distribute the weight in a more secure way while wearing. Hence, I don't recommend this pack if you're not going to be doing much walking around, or riding a bike--you should go for a more square shaped bag. Otherwise it's pretty awesome.
