Instructions to update your desktop computer browser

Each browser has different steps required for upgrading. Follow the links below for instructions on updating your browser.

Edge: Microsoft Edge is part of an operating system and can’t be separately updated. It’s updated through regular windows updates.

Instructions to update mobile device browsers

Follow the steps below to be sure you have the most up to date mobile browser.

iOS

  1. Open the App Store app on mobile device.
  2. Search for the web browser.
  3. Click Update.

Android

  1. Open Google Play app on your mobile device.
  2. Search for the web browser.
  3. Click Update.

Enabling TLS 1.2 on web browsers

To enable TLS 1.2 protocol on web browsers, see the list below:

Internet Explorer

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. From the menu bar, click Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab
  3. Scroll down to Security category, manually check the option box for Use TLS 1.2
  4. Click OK
  5. Close your browser and restart Internet Explorer

Edge

  1. In the Windows menu search box, type Internet options.
  2. Under Best match, click Internet Options.
  3. In the Internet Properties window, on the Advance tab, scroll down to the Security section.
  4. Check the Use TLS 1.2 checkbox.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Close your browser and restart Edge browser.

Chrome

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Click Alt + F and select Settings
  3. Scroll down and select Show advanced settings...
  4. Scroll down to the Network section and click on Change proxy settings...
  5. Select the Advanced tab.
  6. Scroll down to Security category, manually check the option box for Use TLS 1.2
  7. Click OK.
  8. Close your browser and restart Chrome

Firefox

  1. Open Firefox
  2. In the address bar, type about:config and press Enter
  3. In the Search field, enter tls. Find and double-click the entry for security.tls.version.max
  4. Set the integer value to 4 to force a maximum protocol of TLS 1.3.
  5. Click OK
  6. Close your browser and restart Firefox

Safari

There are no options for enabling SSL protocols. If you are using Safari version 7 or greater, TLS 1.2 is automatically enabled.
