Simplified, Massive Brother of the HOTSHOT: TL for Top Load.

Simplified brother of the HOTSHOT, our HOTSHOT TL (Top Load) is the next generation of the trusted HOT TOP—the gas-station on your back, your pillow for that 0400 dirtnap, the brother that carries what gets you to the next shift safe, strong, and healthy. It’s your home away from home, and built to last.

  • Framing, structure, support, durability, and adjustability are what set our load bearing Hotshot packs apart from the field of industry-standard web gear. But framing for the Fireline is an art of walking a line that lets the wearer maintain agility and mobility while carrying 50+ lbs. for days on end.
  • Like Voltron, multiple elements combine and work in concert to form a system greater than the sum of its parts. The Fire-specific yoke features our patented Futura adjustment system that telescopically adjusts to any user’s torso length, and houses a framesheet/adjuster whose aircraft-grade 7075 Aluminum stay is pre-curved to match the contour of the upper back. In the body of the bag, HDPE plastic backed by a vertically mounted fiberglass rod form the foundation of the framing, bridging between the yoke and the structure of the Fire belt. A patented lumbar system ties into the structured wings of the belt, completing load transfer through the body to anchor in the hips and core.
  • Draw-cord shroud access to main compartment allows maximum volume, extreme overloads, and limited internal organization
  • CAL FIRE SPEC Model Includes HYDRAPAK® 3.1L OHY Hydration Reservoir included (CAL FIRE Spec 1728 required), featuring all-black bite valve hardware, dust cover, and insulated hose
  • Low-riding lumbar design for efficiency during ground-level work, whether sawyer, swamper, or scraper
  • Angled pack bottom combines with compression straps to eliminate shelter slap and chafe
  • Structured belt, compatible with MOLLE- or buckle-attach accessories, provides support for equipment
  • Internal hydration sleeve designed around Hydrapak® 3.1L OHY reservoir; can also hold certain 5L reservoirs
  • Retailored wing pockets’ low-cut front enables firefighter to reach fuel and water bottles while wearing pack
  • Wing pockets hold up to three fuel bottles, three water bottles (40oz Hydroflask®, FSS bottle) or one 64oz Hydroflask® growler per side
  • Redesigned lower lid-attach system secures two fuel bottles, giving a carry option where H2O contamination is a concern
  • 8-10 fusees can be carried between two dedicated fusee sleeves (4-5 per side)
  • Fusees fully zip away for rotor-wing crew shuttles
  • External detail pocket gives easy access to small items like headlamps, flagging, and batteries
  • Haul handle on upper yoke can also double as location for hanging fiber tape and flagging
  • Daisy chains over shoulder pads for hanging accessories and other goods
  • Pinstripe 3M™  reflective
  • HOTSHOT LID and HOTSHOT SHELTER CASE MOLLE included
  • HOTSHOT SHELTER CASE MOLLE can be set up ambidextrously for right- or left-hand pull
  • HOTSHOT LID provides 300 cu-in of storage, featuring low profile admin pocket with pen slots
  • Optional SHELTER CASE HIP can be mounted on the belt for rapid fire shelter access
  • Standard pack sizing from XS-XXL—with unconventional sizing available—lets us fit all body types

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old Top LoadThis is the first Mystery Ranch pack I owned. I now also own the Pintler. Mine is the old version but the fit and comfort is amazing. I bought this pack to use on the fire line while getting my basic certification. However due to my job most likely it will never get used on the line. I thought about selling it but is so handy and so comfortable I decided to keep it. I do use the pack as a day pack all the time. I often carry 30-40 pounds in it during strength training getting ready for hunts. I also use it while clearing local trails. I would recommend it to anyone firefighter or not.. Hope this helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice improvements!Everything is improved which is nice. Fits my camera mounts easily which is even better!Fire shelter finally fits way better than the last model, mine barely fit without the plastic cover but oh well, awesome job with that. Side bottle pockets are cool with the lower wall design, won’t be struggling to reach back for a sip of water. The elastic bladder pocket inside holds it tight and not like the old one, just a wide pocket, 2x thumbs up!The removable plastic part has a long metal strip which is cool, doesn’t flap down like the old model with the limited length. For those who like their packs low.Awesome improvements and it should be required that EVERYONE should have an updated MR pack!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, well constructed packBought this pack a month ago for Search and Rescue. Really like the lower center of gravity rather than carrying it up high on the shoulders - essential in rough terrain. Truly appreciate the frame, and padded shoulder straps. Waist belt is the best for any pack I’ve seen in this volume range. Got it with the separate Hydro pocket. No matter what anyone says, when a pack is full, a hydration bladder does not fit inside the main compartment well. Couple of small details I’d think would improve the pack: I wish it had a better haul handle at the top of the yolk, molle on the back of the main compartment and pockets would be helpful for specialty kits (prusik bag, medical kit, tracking tools, etc.), lastly I wish it had a Velcro patch for identification patches. BUT I really like the pack so far

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Money well spentI have owned many packs and this is easily the most comfortable fire pack I have ever worn. If you are a professional, it is worth the expense.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best pack everI am a state firefighter in my district and bought this in anticipation of going out on my first assignment with the crew. This pack is the best one I've ever had. It has everything and is extremely well made. The best part is how well it carries. It's not full right now but I'm carrying a good 35 or so lbs in it and when I buckle it how it's meant to be it feels so light. I have full range of motion in my arms and back. Highly recommend this pack for any wildland firefighters or avid hikers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE IT!!!This pack is amazing, fits so much better compared to any other pack I’ve used. The 3L Hydropak is a nice upgrade from my original 2L. The only thing I have to say is upon arrival, when looking at the pack the top left buckle to hold the lid was missing one of the prongs. I’ve waited long enough for it so I did not prefer to send it back to receive a new one but if it is possible receive a. New male clip that would be perfect.
