Will the ULTRA LIGHT METCALF bag fit on the GUIDE LIGHT MT frame?
- The ULTRA LIGHT METCALF bag is compatible with the GUIDE LIGHT MT frame with a simple modification. To make the ULTRA LIGHT METCALF bag compatible with the GUIDE LIGHT MT frame, remove the HD Gate Keeper Lock from the bottom web compression on the ULTRA LIGHT MT frame and attach it to the bottom compression web on the GUIDE LIGHT MT frame. You can also use the quick attach buckle that comes with our QUICK ATTACH ACCESSORY STRAPS and place two snap attach buckles to the bottom loop of the daisy chain. This will allow for the buckles on the bottom compression strap from the GUIDE LIGHT MT frame to attach to the bottom of the pack.
Can I attach my 2020 to 2023 METCALF bag to the ULTRA LIGHT MT frame?
- The METCALF bag from 2020 to 2023 is not compatible with the ULTRA LIGHT MT frame, as the ULTRA LIGHT MT frame uses ¾ inch buckles for the OVERLOAD shelf instead of 1-inch buckles.
What type of material does the ULTRA LIGHT MT frame and yoke use?
- The ULTRA LIGHT MT frame uses Plain Air Mesh material on the interior of the harnessing and 500 Light Plus CORDURA.
Can I attach QUICK ATTACH ZOID bags to the ULTRA LIGHT METCALF?
- Yes, the ULTRA LIGHT METCALF can accommodate one medium QUICK ATTACH ZOID bag on the side and one small QUICK ATTACH ZOID bag at the top. The older 2020-2023 METCALF has a single option for the medium QUICK ATTACH ZOID bag on the side, whereas the ULTRA LIGHT METCALF 100 can accommodate two medium QUICK ATTACH ZOID bags and one small QUICK ATTACH ZOID bag at the top.
What material is used in the ULTRA LIGHT METCALF bag?
- The ULTRA LIGHT METCALF bag uses 330 Lite Plus material on the bag. Older 2020-2023 METCALF uses 500 Lite Plus.
What is the daisy chain on the front of the ULTRA LIGHT METCALF for?
- The daisy chain on ULTRA LIGHT METCALF is for attachment points for extra gear.
Are the small and large FORAGER POCKETS compatible with the ULTRA LIGHT METCALF?
- Yes, the small FORAGER POCKET is the only size compatible with the updated waist belt because the PALS webbing section is shorter on the more streamlined belt.
Can the ULTRA LIGHT MT frame carry the same amount of weight as the GUIDE LIGHT MT?
- Yes, the ULTRA LIGHT MT frame is rated to handle the same amount of weight as the GUIDE LIGHT MT.
What are the load lifter adjustments for the ULTRA LIGHT MT frame?
- The ULTRA LIGHT MT frame can adjust the load lifter height from 22 to 26 inches. This allows for greater adjustments for shorter or longer torsos and finding what is most comfortable for the user.
Can I swap my current yoke and put it on the ULTRA LIGHT MT frame?
- Expedition harnessing found on the METCALF from years 2020-2023 is not compatible with the ULTRA LIGHT MT frame as it uses a specific yoke attachment.
Where do I find the waist belt size on my pack?
- The size tag is located on the waistbelt behind the lumbar region.
Why would I choose the new ULTRA LIGHT METCALF over any other pack on the GUIDE LIGHT MT?
- The ULTRA LIGHT METCALF is for the backcountry hunter who is weight-conscious and prefers a minimalistic design but does not want to sacrifice comfort and durability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ericcaz from The new Metcalf is lighter and better than the oldOh wow Mystery Ranch perfected the bag and I absolutely love the new color. This redesigned frame and bag is on another level. I own several of the pervious models to include the old Metcalf. They are uncomperable. First thing I noticed was the weight difference then the comfort and weight distribution right were its supposed to be. I am a avid coues deer hunter and this bag is perfect for any mountain adventure. The last thing I noticed was the accessories attachments on the frame and bag. You will be able to personalize it to your like. Buy the bag. I feel like it's on another level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Doc Bill from Still great but differentI very much love everything I have gotten from MR. This is the second Metcalf I’ve purchased because the first I started using as a carryon for airline travel and loved it so much that I decided not to get it bloody-so I ordered the New Metcalf 50 for hunting only. They are different. The new 50 is definitely lighter likely due to the second difference- the material is obviously thinner. Hopefully it will be as durable as my first that remains to be seen. The frame is likely lighter too. The new version does not have a zipper closing pocket on one side of the side carry pockets which I love on the older version for airline travel but should be fine for hunting. All said I expect great things from this bag as always with MR but there are the differences noted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CO_HNTR from Great updated features, loving my new Metcalf.Had the opportunity to own every Metcalf and this one is by far my favorite. The 3 size options is great for someone who doesn't need a big pack but love the Metcalf design. Way to go Mystery Ranch, you knocked this one out of the park.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Gearhead919 from Brilliant except the bucklesAwesome hunting pack. Hold the buckles. I understand what the thinking was behind these slide lock buckles, but I disagree. When the pack showed up one of the little locking mechanisms wasn’t even in the buckle all the way, it much really just demonstrated how fragile they are. Just introducing a point of failure here with these. Ergonomically, they also slow you down while using the pack. The locks require a specific amount of pressure applied in one of two specific directions. I get it, you wanted to make a pack that has buckles that don’t loosen up - but in my opinion it trashes the user experience. All in all I love the pack, and will use it. Had I known about these buckles, I would have moved on and bought somewhere else. It’s that big of a deal. Tried to call mystery ranch and give some direct feedback about design. Guy seemed totally uninterested in improving their product. I asked to purchase proper buckle slides that would be easy to replace from the working end and he told me “we are not a parts supplier” and denied me. Also, not a great look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dricks from Awesome PackI bought this for future hunts to pack out meat as well as be a backpacking pack. I haven’t used it for a hunt yet but packing in a few miles to campsites in the Uintas was a breeze with this pack. The weight distribution was nice and never felt fatigued with it. I imagine it will hold up nice with the weight of an animal. Excited to haul some meat with it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Elkhunter199 from Awesome pack!Fantastic pack loaded with features! I bought this with high expectations and it delivered. Two successful pack outs and it still functions brand new as if I just pulled it out of the plastic. I highly recommended this pack or any other product from Mystery Ranch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jacob from Seems to be what I wantedI was in the market for a second pack setup and the the metcalf 50 fit the bill. I have my September elk pack that is setup for more archery elk needs and now I have a system for spring bear and November whitetail so I don’t have to pack and unpack all the time.
