SKU: D Route
Named for a cliff-riddled line at our local ski area, our updated D-ROUTE is a trim ski pack for lapping in-bounds (or near bounds). With the D-ROUTE , you're always prepared with your shovel, probe, and other key essentials.
The redesigned D-ROUTE at 17L is the perfect inbound pack but also shines when your mission is a pre-work powder line in the backcountry.
Top-loading access allows room for your base avy kit, a place to stash skins, and a snack while keeping everything in place. And now, new glove-friendly buckles allows you access anytime, without compromising cold hands. We kept the 840d nylon with carbonate coating, which defends your pack against ski edges, and upgraded to 320d NP Phantom Ripstop with a wax face coating to help protect the things that protect you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Great Pack, Great ValueI received the D-Route as a Christmas gift and have used it extensively since up at Bridger Bowl and on side country missions. The D-Route is low profile, comfortable and the perfect pack for essentials. The volume is just big enough for avy gear, skins, a couple snacks and for shedding layers before hikes/skins. I was actually pretty surprised with how much I could get in there. The "brain" compartment is generous enough for snacks, sunglasses and other smaller essentials that you need quick access to. I really like the smaller profile as it makes me more considerate as to what I bring and keeps the pack light. My one gripe is the chest strap. I experienced mine always wanting to come off the webbing on the shoulder straps. The way that they attach left them vulnerable to bunching the webbing below and coming off when I had my skis on the pack due to the pack swaying a bit. My solution was to move the chest strap to webbing higher up. The webbing still gets bunched a bit but the higher mount has eliminated the threat of them coming off like they had before. Overall, I really enjoy my new D-Route pack. It's the typical MR high quality design and function. I would definitely recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by JimC from Perfect size, well madeI bought this pack to use for day hikes. It’s a perfect size for carrying two water bottles, rain jacket and essential items in the lid. (I would like to see something to clip keys to inside the lid). It is made with the same quality as the other bigger MR 2DayAs I use. I have used it on 4 wilderness trips so far and like the fit, weight distribution and feel of the shoulder straps. I use the chest strap every time, but not the waist strap. This I will use on more technical trips. It would be a nice option to be able to remove the waist strap like on the 2DayAs pack. So far, very impressed as it flawlessly relaxed a 12L pack I have used for 4 years and was reluctant to retire.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MattyJ from Tiny but MightyIn a world full of heavily designed ski packs the D-Route bucks the trend. A lid pocket, hydration sleeve, and side entry provide the bells and whistles. Diagonal ski carrying gets the job done when booting out of bounds. The pack sits well on the lift. Carries lunch or other necessities well. Fits my average torso nicely. I honestly don’t remember it’s there most of the time. If I were to provide some constructive feedback I’d say add a key clip in the lid, or a small zippered pocket inside the pack to store stuff I don’t want in my pocket of my pants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by shydistance from The Ultimate In-Bounds packFor years I rode in bounds with either an overstuffed jacket or an awkward backpack that made every chair ride an uncomfortable experience. No more! The D-Route maintains a slim profile even when stuffed with avy tools, skins, an extra layer, water, snacks, etc. At first I was skeptical about the lack of a dedicated shovel compartment, but after using the pack for a few days realized this is the secret to keeping the bag slimmed down. The back padding ensures a comfortable carry no matter how you pack it, and the harness is incredible. I truly can’t feel this pack when I’m skiing. Last but not least, the side zip is brilliant. It’s super easy to just flip the pack around and access whatever you may need in the main compartment via this zipper without unbuckling the waist strap or opening the top of the pack. Quality is top notch as one would expect from MR, and functionality and style are on point. Loving this pack!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mich from Cool little bagGreat construction quality I like the minimalist approach to the bag, probably could do without the waist strap but can cut off if not necessary I guess. The material is tough and i like the pad density as well as the backing. It’s not a super light bag by any means but does feel like you could throw it down and bag it up with absolutely no second thoughts. I might suggest making the top and top pockets bigger for added room I’d like to stash wallet or hats and gloves there and leave the large interior for additional insulation and food and water. Seems like an extra couple liters of space on top would make it more useful all around but overall a superb little backpack for minimalists like me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Crusty from Ideal for the Resort Skier/BoarderPurchased this pack just before heading west for a week of snowboarding. I've owned the larger version (Saddle Peak) for years but wanted something smaller for this trip. The D-Route proved perfect. Large enough for an extra layer, water bladder, repair kit, and a small SLR camera. Top pocket is small, but still accommodates a few essentials that you want easier access to throughout the day. The side zip access is a real bonus - makes it super easy to dig out small items that inevitably make their way to the bottom of the pack during the day. The overall low profile was great when riding the lifts - so much so that I didn't feel the need to remove it while loading. Well built, and worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AliB from Perfect size for in bounds hiking or side country!Love this pack! It's everything I need for a ski area day with some side country. Holds a shovel, probe, an extra sweater, and some snacks. Really nice well-designed ski carry strap system. One of the simplest, most effective strap systems I've ever seen in a ski pack. Very pleased with this purchase!
