Rated 5 out of 5 by from The New Travel StandardI got tired of sprinting through Chicago O'Hare to make a connection and decided I needed something else. The duffel bag wasn't what I wanted, but I love being organized and stumbled on the Mission Rover. I've taken it on numerous weekend trips and it's been great so far. Just got it packed for a week long trip to Alaska and I was very pleased on how much I had packed into the Mission Rover (and it was neatly organized). I certainly won't be checking a bag for this trip since this bag seems to do the trip. The Ultimate test for a week in Alaska starts now and I'm feeling confident. Thanks Mystery Ranch!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just great, well-designed and ruggedI do field work in rough places in Africa. After many misadventures with just cramming my stuff into a climbing backpack and hopping on flights, I finally decided to splurge on real luggage. This bag is awesome. I'm on lots of flights on small planes with space restrictions, but I can cram everything I need for a week or more into this thing and squeeze in to the small overhead bins. Really rugged and well constructed, but also well thought out and designed. Laptop sleeve works great and is easy to access even when crammed full. The outer pocket for documents and essentials is also handy for border crossings. Having the option of a separate compartment for dirty laundry is also a really great touch I never would've thought of.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nearly Perfect Travel BagBag works as a carry on! The Mission Rover is perfect size for long weekend travel. Designed with split side organization, excellent zippers, bomb proof construction, and tons of usable storage for its size; it's an excellent tool for the regular traveler. I have three improvements to offer.-While bag has shoulder straps, the addition of a waist strap would be welcome, especially in giant airports.-Could use some kind of easy access water bottle carry. The dirty clothes access works ok for this, but not ideal.-A few MOLLE strips to attach items. Caribeener + Nalgene = solved water bottle problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's Perfect!I have only had this item for a few weeks and have already used it 3 different times and I has been great. I have even taken it on a plane with no issues. The only qualm I have with it is I have a 15" Mac Laptop with a very thin case on it. I really have to push it into the laptop slot. If that could be just a 1/2" wider it would be great. I just feel like I am going to rip the stitching when I put it in there. But hey maybe that is meant to be so it doesn't move around in there. Thank you Mystery Ranch! More packs for different uses will be getting purchased soon!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it! but...In general, love the bag. Great quality construction, good size, holds a lot of gear. Love the split design and book-like opening. That said it has a couple of issues that really disappoint. The front Organizer pocket does not open enough so it is hard to get stuff in and out of. Also, the dividers are a weird size and almost all identical, so cannot fit phone or passport, etc. Seems like pen/flashlight size only. No zipper/mesh pockets for small items either. Would like a larger more functional pocket with more of a U-shaped zipper. Also. Laptop pocket only fits small laptops. Standard corporate HP ProBook won't fit. Tablet sleeve only takes really small device. No larger iPads, etc. Also no pockets for cords, power supply etc. The organizer pocket needs to be a bit bigger and open up more to make it useable. Finally, would love a nicer padded, non-slip shoulder strap. The simple plain strap slips off easily when on one shoulder, and is uncomfortable when bag is heavy. Version 2?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect travel bagI have been searching for the Holy Grail of travel bags for some time. The criteria: Fits both work and recreational clothes, good division of space, streamlined with lots of carry points and durable enough to be tossed around. I previously borrowed a friend's "well known brand" 40L travel bag and found the size perfect but uncomfortable to carry as well as felt the attachment clips were a little brittle. Then, I saw the Mission Rover on a Youtube video. I skeptically purchased with the plan of returning if it didn't live up to what I saw on-line. Immediately upon unboxing, I knew this bag would be the one. It has bulletproof construction; the zippers are smooth, track well, and seal perfectly. The attachment points for straps feel like they could be used for rock climbing and there are plenty of grab points to lift and throw this bag around. Everything about it screams designed for rugged travel. The bag opens as a clamshell and has two cavernous sides that are further divided and sealed with mesh dividers that you can place flat objects such as folders, newspapers or magazines in. These mesh dividers are clutch when you want to open the bag and not immediately have two sides of clothes rain down on you, or you want to access only one side of gear. There is a front pocket for passport, boarding pass, and small quick access items. Behind that is a laptop pocket that can hold a 13" Laptop and a small tablet or E-reader. When packed with clothes the laptop pocket is well padded and protected. The icing on the cake when it comes to pockets is the bottom compartment that can be used for dirty laundry/gym clothes or shoes (I have used it for both). Finally, I love the strap system. You can use as an over-the-shoulder duffle style, a back pack, and as a streamlined pack using only the handles. All the straps tuck neatly away so there is no chance of snagging or tangling on anything. The back pack straps are well padded and support the weight well without sagging or feeling like the straps will break. Are there any Cons? Not really. There are some "nit picks" but that's it. First off, the laptop compartment is TIGHT. You can fit a laptop in the pocket but not with an additional neoprene padded case on it. This didn't bother me because I felt it was well protected and I use a separate laptop brief anyway. Another nit-pick is the quick access pocket can become bulky if filled with pens and other little items. These are very small nitpicks, and for me were negligible since I realize this is for traveling and to replace a bag-on-wheels or similar case. This is NOT an everyday carry or for commuting in the city. This is very much a dedicated overhead carry with some pockets for incidentals. I ditched the concept of the one-bag travel ages ago and I have since purchased a Mystery Ranch 3-way Briefcase to fill in the gaps in my travel needs. I will have a review there as well. To sum up, a perfect travel bag whether you are in the islands or a warzone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great option, much more affordable than similar baI purchased this to replace a broken up duffel bag. The quality is excellent and the bag itself was much more affordable than the competition.I don't think you can go on long hikes, comfortably, with the backpack fully loaded. But if you need your hands free while bringing this bag through an airport, you're all set. I think you would normally carry the bag using the handles or strap. This is enough bag for an organized, efficient traveler to go a week, or for someone traveling with a lot of stuff to go a weekend. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The way to Travel LightSo i've just got back home from a multi-leg trip with the Mission Rover. Living out in the Aleutian Chain is a travel challenge. After a few years of flying with regular hard sided luggage to and from the island, I can say that the Mission Rover will be my go to bag from now on. I was able to fit a weeks worth of clothing, along with my pistol case and Gi in the Rover for a recent business trip to town. I was very impressed with the back pack strap option. Very convenient when I had to walk anywhere (which was often). My 43lbs of gear felt like 25lbs on my back. The layout of the bag is great for organizing my items. The zippers are oversized which makes for easy opening/ closing. The main compartment zippers are large enough to fit a mid size travel lock through. The mesh dividers inside make it possible to see what is stored inside. I was able to store a good amount of small items in the outer pockets but with it being a soft sided bag, I didnt store anything important in them. It looks very professional, I got several comments and remarks while in the terminals waiting for connecting flights. A great purchase that I will be using often.
