3-Zip access meets load-hauling OVERLOAD® feature for mountain use.

Blending two of our most crucial designs – the 3-ZIP and OVERLOAD® features – the redesigned TERRAFRAME 50 3-ZIP is for mountain zealots who need the option of going light or going big. We’ve offered the OVERLOAD® feature in hunting and military packs for years, yet backcountry climbers, fisherman, guides, and others have been asking for a mountain-inspired version of this versatile, load-taming design. Featuring rigid, carbon fiber frame stays, the suspension allows an ideal amount of torsional flex while providing ample support for loads up to 150 lbs. This functional expandability, the OVERLOAD®, is your secret weapon when carrying awkward, excessive loads.

  • Guide Light MT™ frame
  • OVERLOAD® load sling
  • Telescoping yoke for custom torso fit
  • 3-ZIP design for rapid and complete access to gear
  • Quick attach frame cap hardware provides easier OVERLOAD® feature conversion
  • Daisy chains with adjustable tool attach loops
  • Two zippered lid pockets
  • Hydration reservoir compatible
  • Stretch-woven water bottle pockets
  • 330D Lite Plus CORDURA®
  • YKK® coated zippers for durability and water protection
  • Autolock SJ buckles on compression straps

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Roomy and comfortableI've had this pack for about a month now. After adjusting it for a perfect fit I went for a snowy day hike with a full compliment of overnight hiking gear as a test. The suspension is fantastic, didn't notice the ~45 pounds of weight on my shoulders at all, instead it was distributed comfortably on my hips. Seems to be able to fit quite a bit, appears a bit larger than my brothers 50 liter Kelty Redwing. Great zippers as well, hiked for an hour in freezing rain with minor dampness in the pack. Despite being heavy for it's size, comfort of the suspension feels like it conceals the packs weight well.Overall can't recommend it highly enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect hauler to Backcountry Base CampsI do Trail Maintence volunteer work and I need to be able to carry my base weight gear of 16lbs, 8lbs/gallon of initial water plus 6lbs of food for 5 days. I then need to carry another 30lbs of Crew Gear some of which is oddly sized likes stoves & Rotopac. My daily work pack once in the Backcountry is a Six Moon Dedigned Minimalist. Your pack swallowed that pack whole allowing me to just pull it out once at Base Camp and head out to my assigned work area. The two packs combined make a perfect plug & play team for me. Big bulky weights yet instant access to an already packed daily work pack. I just leave my bladder in the Minimalist and thread it through your portal while hiking in initially.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pack Is Amazing, Quality a little dissappointingI have used this pack for two years now for backpacking a few times and 2 elk seasons here in Montana. Love the pack. It rides well, very adaptable to different tasks, have yet to run into any volume issues, and can handle heavy loads. Only downside is some of the quality. Had a buckle break on the bottom that was holding my sleeping bag while I was hiking last year. I am not sure how to replace it since the tab securing it is a sewn loop. Then one of the side pockets has torn open. Not sure how it happened since I have only had a fly rod in that pocket. Would love to give this pack a 5 star, but for the cost, the quality is lacking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A dependable comfortable packExcellent mid-range pack. Packs down good and seems to hold more than 50l. Very comfortable. The overload feature is super nice and allows you to put bulky/damp items outside your main compartment. I put tent, poles and ground tarp outside. Fasteners and zippers all work very well. Only complaint is the external side pockets could be a bi bigger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Obsessive Compulsive DesignI didn’t want a new backpack, then I stumbled on the terraframe 50. After poking at it for a minute I suddenly needed a new pack. The attention to detail and perfection bordered on obsessive. The materials and craftsmanship were first class and the pack readily adapted to carry everything I asked it to on the trail. I’m typically a difficult customer to please but Mystery Ranch has easily won my loyalty almost instantly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid unstoppable pack.I'm a large format vintage film photographer who specializes in capturing still images of Alaska's alpine regions and forests. My gear sees some hard use and unfortunate abuse due to the nature of my work. Although I buy quality gear, much of it has a pretty short life given the nature of what I am doing. Except for my Mystery Ranch Terraframe 50. My normal summer load-out includes 50-60 pounds of awkwardly-shaped photography gear, as well as personal and safety gear. The Terraframe does a great job of moving the weight of these awkward loads to my hips and keeping everything balanced as I move off trail through the temperate rain forests and up the scree-covered slopes of Alaska's Chugach Range. It gets dumped in the dirt and mud, wedge behind rocks, tied to cliff faces, hauled up exposed vertical slopes, and put in all kinds of awkward positions so I can safely access and work with my prized vintage camera gear inside. Other than being a little dirtier than when I bought it, the Terraframe looks and functions like new. I couldn't be happier with this pack or the Mystery Ranch pockets (gummi bear holsters) I bought to compliment it. I can't recommend this piece of gear enough and am very comfortable using it situations where failure simply isn't an option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great setupI have an overload 3 zip on a NICE frame & it has been on multiple adventures. Super sturdy with no regrets. This setup has all the features I came to count on but 3 lbs lighter. Made from a thinner material but not flimsy or easily damaged. The new frame moves with you & supports weight well, the shoulder harness & waistbelt are comfortable as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding pack - comfortable and very versatileI am a big fan of Mystery Ranch and the 3-zip design (for a urban day pack I use the Coulee 25, for a hiking day pack I use 2 Day Assault and for weekend and overnight hiking I have the 3-day Assault) and this pack fits right in. I love the design and the versatility of the overload shelf allowing me to combine a Roll Top Hauler (whether it be a 25L or 40L) to increase the capacity at will. This is one of the most comfortable and versatile packs that I own. Kudos Mystery Ranch on the design!
