Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Civilian PackI've done a lot of rucking in some intense military circles, but wanted something to go backpacking with my kids and wife that didn't draw a lot of attention. This is a great civilian pack. Having only owned it for about five months, I've used it extensively in the Olympic National Park - going out for 6/7 days at a time with 75/80lbs in all weather (rain and snow). It's rugged - and I truly appreciate having the overload feature. As with all my experiences with Mystery Ranch, their strap system makes it much easier to carry than other tactical systems I've used (MOLLE, ALICE, and Tactical Taylor's MALICE).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works very well for huntingI was looking for a hunting pack to replace my Kuiu ultra, which was a failure during my Alaska moose and mountain goat hunts last year. It just couldn't handle the weight and I needed a better frame. This pack resembles one of the hunting packs and has expandable load carrying capabilities, and REI gave me a deal on it. I just used it for a DIY caribou hunt in the Innoko Wildlife Refuge in Alaska that was up in the mountains. This pack was sooo much better. It is more rigid, well made and strong. We camped high, but had to climb up to hunt and down to get water. This pack was with me all the way. As a former Army Infantry Officer who has carried more packs than most any human and bought more hunting packs trying to find the right one...I think I'm done. This might be my last pack ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Carries wellI use this pack to haul my large format camera system into the backcountry and the main compartment is plenty big for that and the rest of the pack is more than enough for all the other requisite hiking gear including winter gear for the snowier months. Loaded to 55 to 65 pounds it carries very well and feels lighter. It is a good combination of the weight carrying properties of an external frame with the pack style of an internal frame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great packUse the for backcountry hikes in the Shenandoah Mountains. I have used numerous military ILBE packs and this is by far the most versatile and comfortable pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functional and VersatileThis is a great pack. You get what you pay for without a doubt. Have loaded it up with about 60lbs so far and went on several multi-day backpacking adventures. So far no issues. The extended load shelf make it easy to carry a 4 person tent when backpacking with the whole family. I plan on using this feature for packing out Elk quarters as well. I really don’t think you can go wrong with this pack!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes a great hunting packSkeptical at first how this would serve as my hunting pack but it works great. I carried around 70lbs at elevation for nearly 35 miles over the course of a week and it was very comfortable. The pack is very well built and after rugged exposure on some trips it still shows very little signs of use. I did buy an extra buckle strap to secure my bow to the pack when hiking. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Can't Imagine Anything BetterBest pack on the market. It's extremely durable and has just the right amount of features. I would recommend this pack to everyone as it can carry big and small loads comfortably. The attention to detail is truly incredible and match that with quality craftsmanship and great materials you have this truly awesome pack.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as functional as I would have likedI primarily purchased this pack as I wanted a pack with the "nice" type external frame and the overload feature. I had heard about these frames and wanted to try one out. Love the frame, really carries a load well. The pack is well made, the stitching very good, finish excellent.Unfortunately I am not too thrilled with the pack itself, the pack is basically just a sack with no organization options. I really like to have slots, pockets, etc. to help me organize and keep everything at hand. I didn't think this would bother me with this pack, but frankly it is driving me nuts especially due to the lack of attachment points. The lack of molle/pals especially on the belt, to attach organizers really leaves me bummed, the "torpedo tubes" are just a touch too small for anything I would use them for, wish they had a stretch gusset and would give a little. I can barely fit a solostove in one and it doesn't fit well. I was really counting on these tubes being more useful for accessing gear I might use prior to setting up camp etc., and they just don't work for me, they are more like decorations than anything functional. The lid is also on the small side, too small for me to ever really consider using it as a day pack, and again it is just a simple sack, nothing to organize little things with. The sleeping bag compartment is also small, and to me seems rather over engineered (heavy). I thought I would like the fold down access, but in practice I don't see the point in that either, at least for me, undoing the compression straps is about the same time spent as going into the pack from the top. Finally, I would have also liked to have seen more bag only options for the frame and accessory choices in matching colors and with enough stock available for those who would like to purchase. Its little things like this that make for satisfied purchase. All in all I like the frame and the construction quality but the lack of organization and attachment points to add other organizers is really making me regret the purchase.
