Profession

I am the Head of Operations for BurnBot. BurnBot is a tech forward startup that is working towards reducing the risk of catastrophic wildfire while increasing the pace and scale of landscape stewardship.

Luke Mayfield is a wildland fire professional with more than two decades of experience across fire management, emergency response, fuels mitigation, conservation, workforce development, and wildfire advocacy. He currently serves as Chief Learning Officer for Wildfire International and previously led operations at BurnBot, advancing prescribed fire and technology-driven solutions to reduce wildfire risk. Prior to that, Luke spent six years as Fire Program Manager at MYSTERY RANCH, working closely with the wildland fire community to improve equipment and operational systems. His career also includes 18 years in federal wildland firefighting, where he built extensive experience in suppression, leadership, and incident response. As co-founder and board member of Grassroots Wildland Firefighters, Luke continues to champion workforce advocacy and firefighter wellbeing, while focusing on training, leadership development, and operational readiness to support safer, more resilient communities.
