Rated 4 out of 5 by Retired Marine from Molle Strap Design FlawI just wanted to provide some feedback regarding the bear spray holster I used on my recent Idaho elk bowhunt: I highly recommend the "post and loop" attachment feature to the molle strap be modified in some way to eliminate unintended unfastenings.Twice during the course of my hunt, the wooden post managed to work its way out of the retaining loop of the strap as it was being worn on the waist belt of my Metcalf pack. The first time, I noticed it happened when I heard the holster fall to the ground. The second time evidently occurred during a stalk when I was doing a slow butt-slide down a slope toward feeding elk. I didn't notice the holster was gone until later that day while back at camp. Being 95% sure it came off during that stalk, the next morning I returned to that location and thankfully found it about half way down the slope I was sliding on. To fix it so it would unfasten again, I used a zip-tie around the loop once the wooden post had been placed through it, making the loop too small for the post to unintentionally pass through. If the "post and loop" design is to remain, I think making the loop a bit smaller would be one remedy or, better yet, make the loop out of an elasticized material (and smaller) so the post has to be forced through it and the loop holds it better.I don't know if this problem relates to all the holsters produced or just mine, but it certainly was an issue for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GP medium from Typical Mystery Ranch QualityI bought this for an upcoming 65 mile rucking event in the Ocala National Park.I put it on the hip belt of my Overload. My only issue with it is that mounted on the belt the bottom 3rd sticks out below the hip belt, so when the pack is sitting on the ground it wants to fall backwards. Which isn't a big deal at all and I think if the pouch mounted higher to avoid this it would have the bear canister most likely too top heavy and flopping around on the hip belt.At the end of the day if I ever need to use that bear spray I'm going to be glad that it's securely attached and hasn't fallen off somewhere on the trail.I would 100% buy this pouch again if I ever needed another one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ears from I felt like a Gunslinger in the Old West.Picked this up before heading out on a hunt into bear country. I decided I prefer not to end up a pile of bear poo. With my luck, it probably wouldn't even be on top of a mountain. Ole' grizz would probably pop a squat underneath a thick patch of alders, scraping me up into a pile with no grand view. No thanks. I deserve better. I started out by attaching the holster to the belt strap of my MR pack. It worked very well, but I didn't like how it "got in the way" when I bent over and such. Also, I wasn't a fan of it being on the belt strap when I took the pack off. Often times it was underneath the pack, etc etc and I just wasn't a fan. After a couple of days, I lashed it to the molle webbing on the bottom of my bino harness, and this was MUCH better. I often leave my pack at my glassing spot and take short hikes checking out other areas, so having it on my bino harness was great. I didn't feel quite as Wyatt-Earpish as I did with it on my belt, but my bino harness is always with me, so my bear spray was always with me without having to take it off of the belt strap. Mucho bettero. Construction is top notch. I really like how the spray canister fit snug. Also, the security strap is split, which is a great feature. This "envelopes" the spray nozzle, keeping it very very secure. No chance of it sliding to the side and being accidentally set off. I can just picture myself flailing around the side of a mountain like one of those wacky inflatable flailing arm guys you see at the local used-car lot after an accidental-discharge. This would no doubt attract super-grizz, who would most likely be quick to jump on a blind, slobbering, screaming meal of peppered-skinny-guy. No bueno. Awesome last minute purchase, and I'm glad I had it. Not something that every hunter will need, but if you're going to be in bear country, SAFETY FIRST. Don't end up a pile of bear poo. You're better than that. You deserve to smell much better when you die. It's cheap. Buy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TSK from Keeps Your Bear Spray Secure & HandyI've used one of these for 2 years now. It is well designed and will keep your bear spray secure but handy for when you need it. It adapts to a variety of pack belts and webbing. Much better than the cheap holsters that come with most spray canisters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by B Lazers from Better Than The Counter Assault HolsterThankfully, I have not yet needed to use it in a bear encounter (yet), but it carries great, can mount a lot of different ways, and has a simple and durable design. Everything you'd need this to be; nothing you don't. The large bright orange pull loop will make sense for a lot of people (LMOA, ever do a fine motor task with lots of adrenaline?) The neoprene holster you can buy that come with bear spray are hideous and poorly mounting.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Montana FS from Does not work on all packsI purchased four of these for work and I have been very disappointed with them since they constantly fall off of the waistband on the Gallatin 40 pack that I am using them with. I reached out to customer service and this is what they said " The reason you're having this issue is that the holster has to be used with a pack that has MOLLE webbing slots on it. This is so that the webbing on the holster can be attached correctly. Without those slots on the pack, it cannot function. The friction from the webbing on the holster being woven through the slots on the pack is what makes it secure". So in short, do not buy this product if you do not have a pack that has the MOLLE webbing.
