Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it, butA few months back my 3DAP was stolen out of my car. I carried it for over 8 years all over the world. Great pack. I bought this most current model as a replacement. I like the new cordura (lighter) fabric, zippers, and laptop pouch. However the shoulder straps lack the robust padding of the previous models and does not have the nice organizational pockets in the too pouch. Mostly for the shoulder straps are why i only gave it four stars. I also highly recommend MR put a zipper or velcro pocket where the plastic back panel is so that the user can quickly change out this panel for one that has aluminum or composite stays. Combined this with more robust shoulder straps the pack can easily accommodate 35 lbs or more comfortably.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality down from previous 3 Day Assault purchaseI have two 3 Day Assaults, a desert camo I purchased about 3 years ago and the black I just purchased 2 months ago. I also have an ASAP and a few other MR products. I have been a big fan; however, this most recent purchase indicates an effort to reduce costs through lower quality build materials. For example:My black 3 Day Assault has much thinner shoulder padding than my Camo 3 Day Assault or my ASAP. Sometimes when I am carrying 20-30 lbs the padding on the new black 3 Day Assault flattens fully and I can feel the liner that maintains the form of the strap. This never happens with my ASAP or earlier 3 Day Assault. In addition, the Cordura material feels thinner. I am not certain if they used 1000D in previous models and now switched to 500D or just went to a different manufacturer. However the difference in material in the new black 3 Day Assault is noticeably different and feels like it will not hold up as long. I am not sure what is going on with the reduced build quality because the price actually increased between the two 3 Day Assault packs I purchased over 3 years or so. Maybe someone from MR will explain after I post this review. I am a big MR fan since they still try to make things in US, which is important to me. I am disappointed to see the quality take a step down, especially considering the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great PackI've owned this pack for over 3 years now. It's done literally 100's of miles in the Rocky Mountains and been on just about every continent. I'm not really into the whole EDC trend and I do find that this pack may be a little too technical for EDC, for me anyway. I think it comes into its own on day trips in the outdoors and international travel where there is extended carry with moderate weights. I do not have the live wing upgrade but he hip belt works well without it as long as the weight is below 40lbs. I have a bigger pack by Mystery Ranch with the NICE Frame for longer expeditions and meat hauling. This 3 days assualt pack also works very well as a carry-on bag, and through airports. I wish I would have had gear like this when I was humping rucks in the military. The biggest benefit to a Mystery Ranch product that I've seen is the quality and tightness of the stitching. I've handled and carried gear from many manufacturers including one of their most touted competitors, and upon inspection, Mystery Ranch is head and shoulders above them in construction. I own about half a dozen products from different competitors in the same price range. I've concluded that Mystery Ranch is the most durable and well put together. My 3 day assault pack is as good as the day I bought it. All the paint is worn off the zipper pulls and they are bronze colored now and I've even dusted it with some paint for custom camouflage. At this point I'm thinking this pack will be with me until the end of my active life. Thanks Mystery Ranch. Please don't change the quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid and well madeI recently received the 3 day assault pack. One of the best made pieces of kits I've seen in a long time. It is very comfortable and sits very well on me when I'm carrying it. There is one niggly thing that could be improved in future version could be added velcro strap ties for all straps. There are velcro strap ties for the many other parts (compression straps), but not for the straps that connect over the shoulder and like to dangle and get caught in things. Other than that, there is nothing else bad I can say about it. If one word would describe it, it would be "solid".

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Extremely Overpriced, Reduced Quality of ProductI really wanted to love this pack as i've had numerous other MR packs in my past (MR Crest, Scapegoat, Scree, Ravine, Etc.), BUT the super thin feel of the 500D "Cordura" and the poorly chosen, super thin shoulder straps/harness (seriously half the thickness/comfort of the previous model 3DAP) really made me question the durability and direction that Mystery Ranch has chosen to take this iconic bag. The shoulder straps/harness are the exact same you'll find in their smaller futura harnessed bags made overseas (I compared to my other bags), WHY WOULD YOU NOT PUT THICKER PADDING IN THE STRAPS IF THIS BAG IS MEANT TO CARRY LARGER/HEAVIER LOADS!?It's extremely sad that i'd prefer their overseas made product, such as the MR Crest which is double layered 500D Cordura throughout the entire bag, over this USA made product. I just can't accept paying the overly high premium price for this USA made bag for such marginal differences in materials/quality/etc. Aside from the laptop sleeve and few additional internal pockets, this is an overpriced MR Scree (1st generation, essentially same dimensions and exterior features) in my mind. Hopefully Mystery Ranch will start to listen to the recent negative feedback and incorporate quality materials and design choices back into your designs before they become even more mainstream to turn a buck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent in an EDC role!I purchased this bag with the intention of using it as an everyday bag to go with me anytime I leave the house. I pack a simple change of clothes, a snack, deodorant, my firearm, multitool, pocket knife and some pen and paper. There's is still a lot of room left for anything else I'd need to stowe away during my course of the day. This bag is big but can be cinched down and it becomes a very mobile transportable everyday bag. It has been worth every penny. The materials and craftsmanship makes you proud to own one! If anyone is looking at this as just an EDC bag and you don't go hiking much if at all this bag will fill that EDC role and perform amazingly. Its the most comfortable high end bag I've used to date.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply GreatI like this bag a lot. I use it daily, for school (college), regularly on hikes, trips, camping, biking, etc, and it meets every need. It's made well, out of durable materials. I don't worry about damaging it on anything, nor do I worry about the things inside the bag getting damaged (when used within reason, of course). It's not an lightweight bag though, just in case you weren't aware of that. That being said, it's not overly heavy for it's construction, and it's zippers are top of the line. I bought it with the padded waistband, which is a must if you are putting any meaningful weight inside, because between the should straps and the waistband, loads are carried very comfortably, easily, and securely for long periods of time. The top lid does tend to flop down over the main pocket then I don't want it to, but that's not a big problem, just a minor annoyance. Also, the strap lengths are quite long, and I'm not a big fan of the roll-over-velcro-up retention system, because it can make adjusting straps troublesome. Owner for nearly a year, and feel this deserves 5 stars, for completely meeting my expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute best!Absolutely amazing pack. Quality is top notch. This bag will last you a very long time. Excellent choice for avid outdoorsmen. Load beaing capability and comfort are the best I have ever felt. If I had to pick the only con, it would be the fact that MR left off four Velcro strap keepers for some strange reason. It has them on the cinch straps but not the top and lower harness straps?? For the price, such a little mistake seems very foolish. Other than that the 3 day assualt CL is Rock solid
